Horse Racing Tips: 6/1 chance heads three for Friday
Flat racing holds sway in Britain and Ireland on Friday with eight meetings taking place across the afternoon and into the evening. First off is Ffos Las before they go to Thirsk, Sandown Park, Wexford, Fontwell Park, Down Royal, Southwell and Salisbury.
Among our horse racing tips for Friday is one for trainer Joseph O’Brien who is owned by the Brosnans. The owners won the Galway Hurdle recently with Nurburgring and could have another exciting horse on their hands.
Horse Racing Tips – Friday, August 30
16:05 Down Royal – Teriferma @ 3/1
Ross O’Sullivan’s Butter Fingers is the horse to beat in the opening 2m1f three–year– old hurdle off the back of a win over hurdles and on the Flat, but Joseph O’Brien’s TERIFERMA might have his measure on this occasion.
Sporting the familiar Brosnan Racing silks, the same owners who own recent Galway Hurdle winner Nurburgring, this gelding couldn’t have got off to a better start over hurdles when winning impressively in a maiden at Killarney (2m1f, soft) last week.
Weak in the betting having drifted from 6/1 all the way out to a starting price of 14/1, Teriferma travelled notably well and despite a couple of little jumping mistakes, he powered to victory to win by two lengths and had the reopposing Sinbad My Dad well behind.
O’Brien also runs Inspire Hope here who impressed when winning a juvenile hurdle at Killarney, but she was 29 lengths behind Butter Fingers at Tipperary and JJ Slevin has opted to ride the selection instead.
16:40 Down Royal – Party Dress @ 5/1
In the following 2m1f mares’ maiden hurdle, Willie Mullins’ Born In Purple is likely to go off a warm order but the mare has found one too good on each of her three starts to date and she might be vulnerable to an improving type again.
The one that sticks out is PARTY DRESS who is a rare runner in this code for Willie McCreery.
The Mastercraftsman filly won a Tipperary fillies’ maiden (1m1f,soft) impressively in May and ran respectably up in trip on handicap debut at Leopardstown last month.
Rated 72 on the Flat, she should be more than capable of making her presence felt in this company if her jumping holds up.
18:05 Salisbury – Connie’s Rose @ 6/1
CONNIE’S ROSE is a model of consistency and the five–year–old mare can gain a ninth career win in the 5f handicap for trainer Grace Harris with Kieran O’Neill in the plate.
She has done most of her winning over the minimum, but she has also won over 7f so one thing is for sure, she will be hitting the line well here.
Her latest victory came at Leicester (6f, good) in July off a mark of 72 and she’s only a pound higher now, while she arrives here off the back of a good third at Bath, where the blindfold was removed late which didn’t help.
