Horse Racing Tips: 5/2 hope heads Monday’s three
Seven meetings take place across the UK & Ireland on Monday – four on the flat and three over jumps. First off is Chepstow before they go to Ripon, Downpatrick, Epsom Downs, Southwell, Cartmel and Ballinrobe.
Among my horse racing tips for Monday is one for trainer Stuart Kittow at Chepstow who has improved dramatically for the application of a visor and can follow up in Wales.
Horse Racing Tips – Monday, August 26
13:50 Chepstow – Notre Maison @ 5/2
Opening the card at Chepstow is the five-furlong handicap and it looks a good opportunity for Stuart Kittow’s NOTRE MAISON to back up her Windsor victory in June under Rob Hornby.
The first-time visor worked a treat on that occasion and really focused the mare on the job when powering clear to win by three and a half lengths on that occasion, setting off in front and never for catching under Sean Dylan Bowen.
Bowen was claiming five pounds on that occasion so Notre Maison is effectively running off 12lbs higher here and life will without doubt be more difficult, but the manner in which she put the race to bed last time would suggest she might be able to win off this mark.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
14:17 Cartmel – Trafalgar Square @ 15/8
Training partnership Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero are building something very good and are brilliant at improving a juvenile hurdler, evident with Iroko and White Rhino, and TRAFALGAR SQUARE could be above-average. He can land the 2m1f juvenile hurdle.
The Flat-bred son of Too Darn Hot failed to land a blow in that code up to 1m4f but he made a satisfactory hurdling debut when runner-up over the extended two miles at Market Rasen (would have finished a remote third but for a faller) in June.
Trafalgar Square was weak in the market on that occasion and now he’s had that run under his belt, we might see a much bigger performance now. He has had wind surgery since his last run too which is worth noting.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
16:40 Cartmel – Jerrash @ 7/2
Peter & Michael Bowen have had a great summer with the improving JERRASH, and if the son of Kayf Tara can bounce back from a below-par display at Newton Abbot last time he has great claims in the 3m1½f handicap chase.
An easy winner at Bangor off a mark of 110 over 2m4f in June, he followed up in style off a mark of 118 at Market Rasen over 2m5f in July, before disappointing last time when upped to 3m2f.
He has a tendency to jump right at times which wouldn’t be ideal around Cartmel, but he definitely stays this far and any horse can be forgiven for one poor run. He’s worth another chance here.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
