Haywire Gamay and Gamay Rose To Enjoy TodayPR SAMPLE

haywire logoSome wines are crafted to be aged years or decades before you can enjoy them, while others are made to be enjoyed now.  Especially when it is summertime and you can get outside and enjoy the fresh air.  I have two wines from BC’s Haywire Winery that fit the bill to enjoy now.  I have their Haywire Winery Gamay 2022 and their Gamay Rosé 2022.  Not surprisingly, both wines come in at 12.5% alcohol and are under screwcap for easy opening and sipping.  Both wines are organic and vegan-friendly.  Let me tell you about these two wines.

My Wine Tasting Notes

Haywire Winery Gamay 2022 (BC $31.99)

From the winery, “100% Gamay fermented in small open top tanks and Nico Velo concrete with twice
daily punchdowns for four weeks. 50% whole cluster for increased mid palate weight.”

Appearance: A deep, clear to the core garnet colour.  About 80% opaque.
Nose: Medium intensity, expressive nose with aromas of raspberries, cranberries, sweet plums, candied cherries and some violets. No change to the aromas after decanting.
Palate: This wine is dry, but fruity tasting.  Juicy red fruit flavours, raspberries and blackberries, along with a floral component.  Medium-plus body with a lightly round mouthfeel.  Medium-minus tannins.  Lively acidity leaves a prickle in your mouth.  No change to the flavours or body after decanting.
Finish: A long length, finishing with tart red fruits, raspberries and plum flavours.  Light spiciness at the very end.  Medium-intensity drying tannins. No changes to the finish after decanting.
