This weekend’s race is one week after the Ally 400 where Ross Chastain snapped a 42-race winless drought as he held off Martin Truex Jr. for the victory. Denny Hamlin was behind both of them in third place.

Chase Elliott Goes for a Fourth on a Debut Road Course

So, Hendrick Motorsports Racing did not get their Chevy’s near victory lane but finished fourth, fifth, and sixth. However, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott have each won four races on road courses in the last three years. This Chicago street course features a lot of unknowns. Again, the 12 turns have two wide (dive down) areas on South Columbus Drive to negotiate. Drivers are going to need to be extra technical coming out of some of these apexes and worse.

Fortunately, Caesars Sportsbook has fewer drastic gaps. For one, Chris Buescher is only +2000, Ty Gibbs is at +4000, and for fun, Jenson Button lies at +10000. Most bettors may focus too much on Ross Chastain who won last week at Nashville. This is a week where relying on what works on road courses benefits yet hurts some too.

Does the setup truly favor them? As the race goes on, it might (especially with Reddick and Truex Jr.).
