Goodwood Tips: Signs look good for Jarvis’ runner

Goodwood Tips: Signs look good for Jarvis’ runner

Horse racing has been front and centre of the sporting headlines this week thanks to Royal Ascot, and there should be plenty of excitement ahead of Friday’s six-race card at Goodwood.

The going is expected to be Good-good to soft in places for Friday’s meeting, and we have picked out three runners who should run big races for our readers, including Rainyniteingeorgia, a runner-up to Beautiful Diamond, who recently placed in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Goodwood Betting Tips

  • 17:12 – Rainyniteingeorgia @ EVS
  • 17:47 – Alba Longa @ 7/4
  • 18:22 – La Pulga @ 6/5

17:12 – Rainyniteingeorgia @ EVS

Even though William Jarvis’ RAINYNITEINGEORGIA has only raced once, we can take plenty from the two-year-old’s debut earlier this month.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner finished second to Beautiful Diamond, who finished third at Royal Ascot on Wednesday. That form is as solid as you can get, and the pair finished well clear of the rest of the field at Nottingham last time out.

Two weeks after making her debut, Rainyniteingeorgia should set the standard at Goodwood, and Jarvis and his team will no doubt be excited to see what they have at their disposal.

17:47 – Alba Longa @ 7/4

After three runs without a win in 2022, connections changed their tactics with ALBA LONGA when she returned after a 206-day break at Windsor last month.

Ralph Beckett’s runner was campaigned over one mile in 2022, but the three-year-old’s best result came at Doncaster, where she finished third.

The step up to one mile and three furlongs worked wonders last time out, though, as she beat Crema Inglesa by over three lengths at Windsor.

She will carry a 6lb penalty on Friday, but that should not be enough to hold her back.

Horse Racing Odds

18:22 – La Pulga @ 6/5

Charlie Johnston’s LA PULGA has given connections plenty of good memories already this season, winning at Hamilton this month before then finishing second at Pontefract.

The four-year-old looks set to have his busiest season since 2021, but he should be able to return to winning ways at Goodwood.

The son of Kodiac will drop down in class for Friday’s outing at Goodwood, and he looks to be well in with the handicapper. After romping to victory at Hamilton, La Pulga should be the one to beat, and while Vega Sicilia should run a big race in first-time blinkers, we fancy Johnston’s charge to prevail.
