Golf Betting: Australian PGA Betting Tips and Preview

Golf Betting Tips from The Caddy

The DP World Tour season has hardly finished but it’s started again with this week’s Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club, Brisbane, Australia.

There’s also another tournament on the DPWT this week with the Joburg Open in South Africa.

After landing another outright winner last weekend at the RSM Classic in the shape of Ludvig Aberg at 12/1 scooping his maiden PGA title, why not join me on Telegram by clicking the link below for this week’s Joburg Open tips & specials!

The 156 field will all be competing for a share of the $2M prize purse with the winner receiving the Australian PGA Championship title & a winning cheque for $333,400.

Royal Queensland Golf Club will be playing 7,084 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 Parkland layout where good Greens in Regulation figures will be key for success.

Cam Smith returns home to defend his title from last year. His winning scorecard read 270, -14.

The weather is forecast to be sunny & warm throughout with the possibility of some showers on Thursday. Breezes will peak at around 15mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 2.30 am in the early hours of Thursday morning.

So let’s move on with this week’s betting selections for the Australian PGA Championship.

Min Woo Lee 13/2 EW William Hill 1-7 places

For my first pick in Brisbane, I’m sticking with Min Woo Lee 13/2 EW William Hill 1-7 places. The 25-year-old Aussie kid has been at the top of my list on a couple of occasions this year without delivering so it’s about time he delivered. T15th last weekend at the DP World Tour Championship & 6th previous to that at the Zozo Championship, the forms definitely in the bag for the Aussie kid. I’m just hoping that all this recent travelling hasn’t affected him too much but a return home should set him up for a good week with every possibility that he’ll get his first W on the board for 2023.

He did win an event a few weeks back on the Asia Tour when claiming the Macao Open but that wasn’t a PGA or DP World Tour event. Min Woo Lee finished T4th at this event & venue last year

His Fine recent form could see him better that effort this time around with another visit to the winner’s enclosure in the early hours on Sunday morning in Brisbane.

Adam Scott 10/1 EW 1-8 places Boylesports

For my next selection, I’m going to advise Adam Scott 10/1 EW 1-8 places Boylesports. I’m taking the shorter price of 10/1 rather than 12/1 just so we can get the extra places because at this time of the year, every penny counts.

Adam Scott should have no problem lurking around at the top of this Australian PGA all weekend & the fact that he’s been back home longer than most in this field, he should be more settled having adapted to the time zone differences. Most are arriving fresh from tournaments last weekend so jet lag could be an issue.

The 43-year-old veteran hasn’t been seen since finishing T5th last time out at the Bermuda Championship, that was his third Top 10 finish at the last half dozen attempts.

T7th at the BMW PGA Championship & T7th at the Wyndham Championship are the other two. You’d need to go all the way back to 2020 for Adam Scott’s last W so surely it’s about that time he got back in the winner’s circle with an overdue victory in his homeland.

Cam Davis 10/1 EW Coral 1-6 places

For my final pick to win this week’s DPWT season starter, I’m going to suggest Cam Davis 10/1 EW Coral 1-6 places. You’ve probably all noticed a trend here, yip they are all Aussies that’s correct & their prices aren’t any bigger than 10/1.

Cameron Smith is the outright favourite at 4/1 this week, for obvious reasons & he’s also the defending champion so I’m giving us the best chance possible to beat him this weekend.
Getting back to Cam Davis, check this out.

In his last seven tournaments entered, the 28-year-old Aussie has finished inside the Top 20 at all of them apart from one. It gets even better as half a dozen of those efforts were inside the Top 10.

Now without being disrespectful, this isn’t going to be nearly as competitive at the PGA Tour events that Cam Davis is used to week in and week out & this could be the perfect opportunity to bag his first W of the year, better late than never.

The Caddy’s Australian PGA 2023 Best Bets

  • Min Woo Lee 13/2 EW William Hill 1-7 places
  • Adam Scott 10/1 EW 1-8 places Boylesports
  • Cam Davis 10/1 EW Coral 1-6 places
