On Saturday, November 9, a Week 11 SEC showdown takes place between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels. Georgia enters the contest as the No. 3 team in the latest AP Poll with an overall record of 7-1 and an SEC mark of 5-1. Ole Miss is ranked at No. 16 this week with a 7-2 record overall and an SEC record of 3-2. Georgia and Ole Miss have faced off 46 times. The Bulldogs hold the edge in the series with a record of 33-12-1. Georgia was 10-0 between 1997 and 2012. Ole Miss ended that winning streak in 2016 with a 45-15 victory. The last time these two teams faced each other was in November of 2023. The Bulldogs won that game 52-17.

Georgia went 3-0 to open the 2024 NCAAF season. The Bulldogs took their first, and only, loss against the Alabama Crimson Tide in late September, falling on the road by a score of 41-34. Since then, Georgia is 4-0, including a 30-15 win over Texas, who was the No. 1 team in the AP Poll at the time. The Bulldogs are coming off a 34-20 victory over Florida.

Ole Miss went 4-0 at the start of the season, but the Rebels are 3-2 since then, losing to Kentucky and LSU over that run. Ole Miss is on a two-game winning streak. Their most recent outing was a 63-31 win over Arkansas.

Georgia betting breakdown

The Georgia Bulldogs have not lost two games in a season since 2020. They look to avoid that fate when they face Ole Miss on Saturday. In their last meeting, the Bulldogs rushed for more than 300 years. In the off season, it seemed as if Ole Miss retooled its roster with this matchup in mind. Georgia’s offense remains potent in 2024, scoring more than 30 points per game in each outing this year. While a loss in this game might not cost the Bulldogs a spot in the College Football Playoffs, a setback to the Rebels could knock them from the SEC Championship Game.

“They’re probably, when you look at offense and defense, both sides of the ball, they’re probably the best combination of those two things in our conference,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on the SEC Teleconference. “They are really good at both and are playing really good football right now. We’ll have a great challenge over in Oxford.”

Smart called out the Ole Miss defense in that conversation, saying the team has, “arguably the best defense in the country in terms of sacks and tackles for loss in the SEC.”

The Bulldogs offense averages 431.3 yards per game, 299 in the air and 132.3 on the ground, while scoring 33.4 points per game. The team’s defense is third in the SEC in fewest yards allowed per game (295.3), giving up 187.1 yards in the air and 108.1 on the ground.

Ole Miss betting breakdown

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin had nothing but praise for the Georgia Bulldogs ahead of this weekend’s matchup. “This is the test of all tests,” said Kiffiin. “This is the premier program in college football, what Alabama used to be, and (coach) Kirby (Smart)’s done an amazing job. I think since 2021, they’re 49-0 besides three losses to a team named Alabama.”

Kiffin added, “…told our players, you still have (the College Football Playoff) alive, and in my opinion, anybody that’s going to win it is going to have to go through Georgia.”

The Rebels are not the same team they were in 2023, entering this contest, Ole Miss has the best offense in the SEC in yards and points per game. They also have the third best scoring defense in the conference and the top rushing defense in college football.

Ole Miss senior quarterback Jaxson Dart has 3,210 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and just three interceptions this year. In last week’s Arkansas game, senior Jordan Watkins picked up 254 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns, both marks are school records.

The team leads the SEC in offensive yards per game (555.4) and passing yards per game (377.1). Their rushing of 178.3 yards per game is fourth in the conference. The team is also first in the SEC in offensive points per game with 42.1.
