Gebrüder Weiss Expands Cross-Border Services, Bolstering Mexico-U.S. Trade Route

Gebrüder Weiss, a global leader in transport and logistics, extends its reach in the dynamic Mexico-U.S. trade corridor with the inauguration of a new facility in Laredo, Texas. Situated just 4.3 miles from the World Trade Crossing International Bridge, this strategic location marks a pivotal move in the company’s ambitious nationwide expansion plan. Gebrüder Weiss Laredo is set to offer an array of comprehensive logistics services, including road, air, and sea transportation, warehousing, and brokerage operations, reinforcing the company’s presence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

In an era where nearshoring is reshaping manufacturing and distribution, the demand for efficient supply chain solutions has reached unprecedented heights. In 2022, trade between the United States and Mexico reached a staggering $779.3 billion, underscoring the significance of this burgeoning economic relationship. Laredo, recognized as the largest inland port in North America, has emerged as a vital hub for Mexico-U.S. trade, facilitating 40% of all commerce between these two nations. This translates into a remarkable 5.5 million trucks traversing the border town in 2022, moving an astonishing $800 million worth of goods daily.

Mark McCullough, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss North America, expressed his enthusiasm about the new Laredo facility: “We’re thrilled to inaugurate our Laredo location, uniquely positioned to streamline North American trade and expand the gateway to the U.S. and Mexico from Latin America and Asia. Nearshoring may be termed a trend, but our strategic approach provides enduring geographic advantages to our valued customers.”

The newly established Gebrüder Weiss Laredo warehouse, spanning 16,200 square feet at 14410 Industry Avenue, features a cross-dock facility capable of handling cargo traveling in both Northbound and Southbound directions. This state-of-the-art warehouse is hazmat-certified and is equipped to process bonded and general cargo. It boasts Mexican customs brokerage services for import and export operations, as well as U.S. customs brokerage services for import and export, customs clearance, and in-bond freight handling. This facility offers invaluable support to the 15,000 commercial trucks crossing the border daily, marking a significant milestone in Gebrüder Weiss’s commitment to seamless cross-border trade.
