Blackburn can rightly lay claim to being one of the form teams in the Championship after accumulating 12 points from their last five matches.
The same can’t be said of tonight’s opponents Preston North End. Their 3-2 win over Coventry at the weekend was their first in eight matches and lifted them back into the play-off places having slipped to ninth in the table.
A win for the hosts would see them jump four places and leapfrog Preston in to sixth so there’s plenty at stake in tonight’s Lancashire Derby.
Over 5,500 Preston fans are expected to make the trip to Ewood Park so it should be a cracking atmosphere. The traveling support were treated to a 4-1 win at Blackburn last December but Rovers look a different proposition now compared to how they were in the early days of Jon Dahl Tomasson’s reign back then.
The bookies make the hosts 10/11 favourites to claim the three points with the Lilywhites at 3/1.
Preston haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 10 outings, conceding 21 in that period so 5/6 on the Blackburn scoring at least two appeals.
Dundee United remain unbeaten in the Scottish Championship after a 1-1 draw with an improving Inverness side last week. They’ve actually picked up more points away from home, a 1-1 draw at nearest rivals, Raith Rovers, being the only blot on their copybook after six games on the road.
That strike by Raith Rovers is the only goal Jim Goodwin’s men have conceded on their travels and up against a Dunfermline side who have only scored 11 goals in 10 Championship matches, another clean sheet could be on the cards.
The away win pays 13/20 but the odds are boosted to 7/4 if they can do so without conceding.
Tony Watt and Louis Moult top the goalscorer markets at 6/5 and 6/4 to score anytime respectively but they’ve both been outscored this season by defender Kevin Holt who has eight goals to his name already.
That’s just one short of his career best of nine in a season, which he managed last season whilst playing for Partick Thistle. He’s set himself a target of 10 and given his goalscoring prowess already this season it’s a surprise to see him as big as 11/2 to add to his tally this evening.
