Friday Accumulator Tips: 14/1 fourfold from the EFL Slate

Our Boxing Day accumulator column was about as impressive as getting a Lynx Africa Gift Set for Christmas. Getting back on the horse though for a Friday night special as we have a full-slate of action from the EFL.

We have a fourfold priced-up at 14/1 for you to consider, all of the games featured are home wins…

Friday Accumulator Tips:

  • Back Cheltenham Town to Win in Cheltenham Town vs Reading @ 7/5
  • Back Barrow to Win in Barrow vs Accrington Stanley @ 4/5
  • Back Gillingham to Win in Gillingham vs Sutton United @ 8/11
  • Back Swindon Town to Win in Swindon Town vs Forest Green Rovers @ Evens
  • Overall Odds – 14/1

Leg 1 – Cheltenham Town vs Reading – Home Win @ 7/5

A really sloppy start to the season saw the Robins part company with Head Coach Wade Elliott and after a campaign languishing at the bottom of the table, the new man in charge has put together back-to-back victories to lift the Gloucestershire club away from 24th position.

Three points on Friday night at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium could see them outside the drop-zone depending on other results. That would certainly round-out a fantastic Christmas period for Darrell Clarke’s side.

The win up at Carlisle was a proper relegation six-pointer, and to follow that up with a solid 2-0 result at home against mid-table Shrewsbury indicates that positive momentum is building.

Both they and Reading have collected 19 points so far this campaign, although the visitors have endured two separate points deductions this year, meaning that they should be sitting on 23, if everything was equal.

The Royals come in having not lost in four, including a very impressive 2-2 draw up at promotion-chasing Peterborough last time out, in a game where they scored with their only two shots on target.

I’m still rolling with the home side though. When teams in a relegation-scrap get on a bit of a roll, they often find a way to keep it going. Should be a low-scorer but I like the odds we are getting for the home win here.

Leg 2 – Barrow vs Accrington Stanley – Home Win @ 4/5

Barrow saw their seven-game win streak come to a halt on Boxing Day, but that was in a pulsating top-of-the-table clash with Stockport County. The hosts went out to an early 2-0 lead before being pegged back by Dave Challinor’s side. That result certainly should not be held against them.

The Bluebirds can get straight back on a winning run on Friday night when they welcome in a play-off chasing Accrington Stanley to Holker Street. John Coleman’s side have a really poor away record and haven’t taken three-points home with them since a 2-4 victory down at AFC Wimbledon back at the end of October.

This game just feels like a home win.

Leg 3 – Gillingham vs Sutton United – Home Win @ 8/11

No-one in EFL League 2 has a poorer record on their travels than Sutton United. The phoenix club won on Boxing Day in a South West London Derby against AFC Wimbledon, but that was their only victory away from home all-season long.

That result did lift them off the bottom of the Football League, but a Friday night trip to Gillingham is not the best place for them to back it up with another three-point haul. The Gills have only scored 19 times this season, which is by far the lowest in the division.

Interestingly, Sutton have the worst defence. So it is a question of poor attack against a porous backline. I’m not sure I trust either side of the coin here, but back-to-back road wins would be a big surprise, so I’ll take the home win.

Leg 4 – Swindon Town vs Forest Green Rovers – Home Win @ Evens

Backing a team to win having lost four-straight is not a route to plenty of betting success, but yet I genuinely think the home side here are a good bet as the final leg of this fourfold Friday night accumulator.

In this run of no points from 12, they’ve lost at play-off chasing AFC Wimbledon, against two teams fighting for automatic promotion in Barrow and Wrexham, as well as on the road against a very in-form Tranmere Rovers side. This torrid run has seen the Robins drop-away from the hunt to finish in the top seven, but they are still a good side.

They play rock-bottom Forest Green, who haven’t won a league game since October. Getting even-money at home against such a team feels like an obvious play. Swindon should be able to turn around their miserable form here.
