Free to Play – Where to Find Free Online Games

Where to Find Free Online Games?

Gaming is my favourite way to switch off from work and entertain myself. From arcade to defence to simulation there’s a game genre for everyone. Here are my favourite websites for free online games:

  • Kongregate.com: Create a free account, save your progress and chat with other games user kongregate. The different gaming genres can be found under the main heading and includes shooter, strategy/defence (my favourite), and sports/racing.
  • Culinary schools: a collection of hundreds of free online games to help familiarize children with food, farming, cooking, the culinary arts, the restaurant business, and hospitality-related careers. My favourite is a game called cooking street as it’s fast-paced and challenging.
  • Plays.org: With around 100 games in their catalog and new games added daily, there’s lots of choice when it comes to games on plays.org. The different game genres can be found at the footer of the website and each game clearly displays the instructions in case you get stuck. Open Restaurant was my favourite game – it’s a restaurant simulation game, very captivating and a good one for when you have 5 minutes to spare.
  • Facebook: There are a whole host of games available through Facebook, and because most people have the popular social media platform, it’s easy to challenge your friends and share your high scores.

Free to Play Games on Android

There are so many excellent free Android games in the Google Play Store. Here are some of the games I recommending testing out:

  • Train Conductor World: Path-finding action-puzzler train conductor world, it’s your job to drag out temporary bridges to avoid calamity while simultaneously sending each train to its proper destination.
  • Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs: Angry Birds in the third dimension. The concept is similar to the original Angry Birds games, only now the constructions you need to break down are ‘projected’ on to your surroundings, be that a table or the floor – pretty impressive!
  • RGB Express: In this tricky puzzle game, your aim is to build up a delivery company from scratch, all by dropping off little coloured boxes at buildings of the same colour. As you progress through the levels you’ll find your delivery job getting harder.

Best Free Games to Play with Friends

While social distancing hasn’t been fun for most people, it has allowed us to get creative when it comes to gaming together. Here are some of the best free games you can play with friends right now:

  • Among Us: Available in the App Store or on Google Play, in the Among Us game a group of players have to move around a spaceship completing various tasks, but one player is secretly an Impostor who eliminates the other players one by one. Everyone has the option to call a vote declaring the identity of the Impostor. Whoever they vote is ejected from the airlock – the aim of the game is to vote out the imposter (or remain in the game if you are the imposter).
  • QuizUp: Free to download in the App store or Google store, this multiplayer trivia game allows you to play against friends in real time. The manufacturers call it “the biggest trivia game in the world.”. Bonus: if your friends are busy, you can connect with like-minded people to compete in a trivia quiz.
  • Words with Friends 2Challenge your friends into taking you on in an online game of scramble to create words out of the letters that you are issued. Whoever gets the most points wins.
  • Card Games: Games that involve cards are often simple but effective it making you both think and keeping you entertained.
