Saturday sees another busy day of Euro 2024 qualifiers and although some games look one-sided, there are a couple of evenly-matched clashes.

One of those in question is in Reykjavik, where Iceland face Slovakia in Qualifying Group J, with both teams desperate to make it to Germany next year.

In a group that also includes Portugal, this fixture looks key to both nations’ hopes, with Slovakia having the edge at this stage.

With two games played across the board in Group J, Portugal lead the way with six points and it’s already looking like the other five teams are battling it out for second.

With Luxembourg and Liechtenstein likely to be short of quality, it could prove to be a three-way battle for the second qualifying spot between these two teams and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

It’s Slovakia that have the edge at present, with Francesco Calzona’s men sat in second and one point ahead of their opponents on Saturday.

Iceland go into the clash having won just one of their last four internationals, that being a 7-0 success in Liechtenstein last time out.

The hosts have drawn their last two matches in Reykjavik, against Albania and Israel, whilst the pair’s most recent meeting on Icelandic soil – in a 2009 friendly – also finished in a draw.

Slovakia head to Iceland unbeaten in their last five fixtures, with one win and four draws, and keeping clean sheets in three of those five games.

Their last match on the road came back in November, when they were 2-0 up in Montenegro before eventually being pegged back and having to settle for a 2-2 draw.

One player that could prove to be a significant figure is experienced attacking-midfielder Robert Mak, who has 15 international goals to his name.

The former Manchester City man is now playing his club football in Australia, but is still a key player in a system that often sees him playing as part of a front three.

The 32-year-old Mak, who could play up top alongside Lukas Haraslin and Robert Polievka, is 3/1 to score at anytime on Saturday in what looks set to be an even contest between two well-matched teams.
