Football Bet of the Day: Seagulls star to hurt the Bees

Brighton & Hove Albion host Brentford in the Premier League on Wednesday evening (19:30) looking to bounce back from their weekend defeat against 10-men Chelsea. 

There is a particular market in this contest which we have selected as our bet of the day and feel will offer great value to punters. 

Despite losing against Chelsea at the weekend, Brighton did put up a fight to try and instigate a comeback which unfortunately didn’t come off. The Seagulls have found consistency an issue this year which is understandable given key players that left in the summer, as well as the crushing injuries they have suffered this season.

However, they still find themselves in the top 10 under Roberto De Zerbi and they are only four points shy of Newcastle United in sixth. They will look to reduce that deficit when they face Brentford in midweek.

As they suffered a defeat against Chelsea on Sunday, Joao Pedro was on hand to net his fifth Premier League goal of the season and his 10th in all competitions. The young Brazilian will take great confidence from his strike at the weekend into a crunch clash with the Bees on home soil, and he will be looking to put a scoring run together.

It looked like his Premier League career with the Seagulls was off to a perfect start back in August as he scored three goals in his first two appearances. Pedro has of course only scored twice since then but his five goals in the Europa League shows that he has what it takes to be a prolific marksman in this side.

He was handed a start at Stamford Bridge over the weekend and following his goal we are expecting him to maintain his spot in the side on Wednesday night. Consistent minutes in the league should also help him with his confidence and we are fancying him to rediscover his form right at the start of the campaign here as he looks to fire Brighton to victory over Brentford.

At this stage of the season, De Zerbi will be reliant on his attacking players to deliver goalscoring returns on a regular basis and Pedro has an opportunity to cement his place in the lineup for the foreseeable future if he can find the back of the net again in midweek. And we are expecting him to take that chance.
