Football Bet of the Day: Salford to show Fergie who’s boss in FA Cup
The FA Cup First Round provides our Football Bet of the Day on Tuesday 14th November (19:45), as Salford City host Peterborough United in a replay at the Peninsula Stadium.
The first game ended in a 2-2 draw at London Road, but one thing is for certain on Tuesday – there must be a winner…
Football Bet of the Day: Tuesday 14th November, 2023
- Salford City to beat Peterborough United @ 12/5
Salford are one division below a Peterborough side pushing for promotion to the Championship, but the Ammies led twice in the first game and now have the added advantage of playing at home to progress into the Second Round of the FA Cup.
Promotion from League Two is Salford’s ultimate priority, but the club have never turned down an opportunity to further boost their profile since the Class of ’92 takeover.
There are Manchester United links in the opposition, too, with Darren Ferguson – son of Sir Alex – in charge of Peterborough.
Salford have already dumped higher-level opposition out of a cup competition this season, beating Leeds United on penalties in the League Cup, and they look good odds to add the Posh – whose equaliser against them earlier this month came in the 93rd-minute – to their list of scalps.
Ferguson’s side have only won two of their last nine away games in normal time – they beat Portsmouth on penalties in the League Cup in August – and I’m backing Salford to extend their bad run on the road on Tuesday and set up a home tie against Doncaster Rovers or Accrington Stanley.
