Football Bet of the Day: Brondby to get their first win of the season

The Danish Superliga got underway last weekend and the 2023/24 runners-up Brondby started their campaign with a gripping 3-3 draw at Viborg – with three goals in that match arriving after the 90-minute mark.

They return to home soil this weekend to face Vejle, who tasted defeat last weekend at the hands of Randers. It is from this fixture that my football bet of the day comes.

Being back on home soil should bode well for Brondby, who lost just four times at Brondby Stadium last term, across the regular season and Championship round. They have already shown that they are looking sharp offensively this season with their three-goal haul on the road last week.

Emmanuel Yeboah netted a brace in injury time so he’s already in good form so early in the campaign. This match at home comes just days after Brondby thrashed Llapi 6-0 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League second qualifying round tier, and what’s interesting is that there were six different players on the scoresheet, which will have fired a warning to this weekend’s opponents Vejle.

Brondby will have high hopes for 2024/25. They missed out on the title by just a single point to Midtjylland, so they will be hoping that they can go one step further this year and claim their first league trophy since 2020/21.

They are looking sharp considering the season has only been underway for a week, and they are laying down a marker early on, while also firing a warning to their rivals. Brondby will be eager to mark their first home league match of the campaign with a win against Vejle, and I fancy them to do so.

It won’t be easy, however, as Vejle gave a good account of themselves despite losing to Randers in their opener. They lost 3-2 but they did give their opponents plenty to think about and I do think they will cause the title challengers some problems.

What’s interesting is that the two met in a friendly a month ago and Vejle won 2-0, but of course as it is a pre-season clash you can hardly read too much into it. The visitors will see that as them having a psychological advantage, though, and Brondby will want to show them that the real thing is going to be very different.

Coming into this off the back of a convincing 6-0 victory, I think Brondby will already feel that they are making their ground a fortress for the new season, and I fancy them to pick up their first league win at the second attempt. I do see Vejle getting on the scoresheet themselves as they shouldn’t be underestimated, so I think there could be a few goals in store on Monday evening.
