What’s this? Margaret River Cab Sauv from an award winning winery, short term cellared and available for $30?? Madness. The Embers range from Flametree see a lower price point, but no less quality. Chief winemaker is Cliff Royle.
Flametree, Embers, Cabernet Sauvignon, Margaret River, 2020
Medium garnet in colour. Aromatic violets and blackcurrant (would have been pastille in youth), soft pencil shavings, bay leaf spice, milk chocolate, cedary oak and a saltbush nuance. The short amount of cellaring has let the tannins soften and start to integrate, while still holding the frame being fine grained. Palate is mid weight with fruit still bright purple and black. Savoury briny edges through a medium length tail. Nothing profound, just a well made, well priced Cabernet.
RRP: $30
Alc: 14%
