It’s an all-Conference USA battle that kicks off Week 7 of the college football season, as the Florida International Panthers visit the Liberty Flames.

Action gets underway Tuesday from Williams Stadium in Virginia at 7pm ET. You can catch the game love on CBSSN.

The Flames are a perfect 4-0 to start the year, and have just one loss in 18 games on the tab since Jamey Chadwell took the reins as head coach — that was a bowl loss last year to Oregon.

Read below for our FIU vs Liberty prediction, along with betting odds and picks.

FIU vs Liberty Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Over/Under
Florida International +17.5 (-110) +600 O 54.5 (-115)
Liberty -17.5 (-110) -900 U 54.5 (-105)

The Panthers are whopping 17.5-point underdogs in the CFB odds, and that figure doesn’t come out of the blue: two of FIU’s three losses on the year have been by 18 points or more, and Liberty is arguably their toughest opponent yet.

The Flames are 4-0 on the year, and have allowed the fewest points in CUSA, while rocking a perfect 3-0 record at home this season.

Salter Stays Hot at Quarterback for Flames

Coming off last season’s conference MVP crown, pivot Kaidon Salter has picked up right where he left off, throwing for 949 yards on a crisp 64.1% completion rate — the best figure of his career. He also has seven TD passes against just one interception.

He shredded East Carolina last game, going 19-for-32 for 223 yards with four TD passes and a lone interception in a Flames. 35-24 romp, their third win by double digits on the season.

Salter can also lean on the conference’s second-best rush attack, churning out 218.5 yards per game.

Quinton Cooley leads CUSA in rushing at 92.8 yards per game on a healthy 7.0 yards per rush average and four majors, while Billy Lucas is Top 4, averaging 4.6 yards per tote and four rushing scores of his own.

FIU’s defense is a prime candidate to get lit up, as they are surrendering 186 yards per game on the ground, with 13 rushing TD’s against.

Overall, the Flames are the league leaders in offensive efficiency, while the Panthers are dead last in defensive efficiency.

FIU vs Liberty Prediction

The Flames haven’t played since Sept 21 due to Hurricane Helene forcing their Sept 28 game against Appalachian State to be cancelled.

Liberty is also just 2-6 against the spread in its last eight games overall, with all but one of those betting losses as 17-point favorites or higher.

And yet, even with FIU posting a 3-1 ATS record as an underdog on the year, it is not the team you want to ride to a betting upset with your hard-earned money.

FIU vs Liberty All-Time Matchups

Date Result Spread Total
Sep 23, 2023 Liberty 38, Florida International 6 Liberty -10.0 Under 53.5
Sept 26, 2020 Liberty 36, Florida International 34 FIU +9.5 Over 60.5

Liberty’s defense has allowed just 20.5 points per game on the season, and its 3rd-down conversion rate ranks just outside the Top 20 in the nation.

The Flames’ sack rate is greater than 8%, and FIU just allowed three sacks last game in their win over Louisiana Tech. The Panthers’ blocking is a lowly 114th in the FBS, and they are clicking at under 30% in third-down conversions.

This one has all the makings of a Liberty romp on Tuesday.
