Following ten days of fun filled action at Landing Casino, Jeju Shinhwa World, South Korea, the Red Dragon Poker Tour festivities has come to a close with a staggering KRW 7,239,839,500 (~USD 5,330,600) in prizes awarded across its ten day lineup. A total of 36 trophy events played down with China’s Zhang Mai securing the biggest payout of the season, having outlasted the Red Dragon Championship’s 1,337 entry field. Fellow Chinese runners Meng Guo and Leng Bin, likewise found gold throughout the series with multi-event wins over at the side events. Scroll down below for all the highlights.

The headliner Red Dragon Championship Event blew away all expectations after a smashing turnout of 1,137 entries were recorded across its four flights on schedule. Whilst ambitious for the Tour’s first showing in five years, the generated pot soared past the KRW 1,680,000,000 (~USD 1,236,390) guarantee, and saw its prize pool swell to KRW 2,567,843,000 (~USD 1,875,480) in value. It took four days of play before a champion was crowned with China’s Zhang Mai reigning in the victory. Zhang crushingly defeated final table captain Nana Nakamura and secured his best career live cash, amounting to KRW 392,403,000 (~USD 287,400) in just under three hours of play. Zhang also stands as the festival’s biggest earner with his one cash throughout the events, enough to propel him to the top of the list.

Multi-Event Winners

With 36 trophies set to be awarded, only two runners out of the player pool bagged multi-event wins across the series. China’s Meng Guo was the first to rake in multiple victories with three events already in the bag before the festival even reached its halfway mark. Meng’s total winnings comes out to KRW 22,745,000 (~USD 16,740), along with bragging rights for her three trophy take downs.

Leng Bin on the other hand, stands as the series’ sole winner of two RDPT Winner Jackets for emerging triumphant at the Dragon Egg Mystery Bounty event, and the third Single Day High Roller. Leng takes with him KRW 124,820,000 (~USD 91,900) in combined winnings, putting him well in the green for his worthy performance.

Having attracted a strong contingent from neighboring China, the series saw its playing field heavily dominated by Chinese runners, with 26 out of 36 trophy events raising the red star studded flag. The largest payout remains to be Zhang Mai’s top prize at the Red Dragon Championship Event with Wang Shengyong, Liu Jun, Wang Wuyi, and Zhou Quan equally banking six figure scores (KRW).
