Everton vs Fulham Prediction: The Toffees should edge this
The quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup are here and Everton vs Fulham is one of three all-Premier League ties to be played over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday.
This fixture takes place on Tuesday evening (19:45) at Goodison Park and the Toffees will be fancying their chances of getting to their first semi-final in this competition since 2015-16. Sean Dyche’s side posted a 2-0 victory against his former club Burnley over the weekend in the Premier League, so they will be confident heading into this one.
Fulham will be looking for a response on Merseyside after they were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United in the league on Saturday. The Cottagers had been in a good run of form before the weekend, so Everton cannot expect to face the same side that were defeated on their last outing.
Here are some of the best markets for you to consider ahead of this contest.
Everton vs Fulham Betting Tips
Match Odds
Everton are priced at 21/20 to win the game in 90 minutes. A draw can be backed at 5/2, the same price as Fulham to get the victory.
If you think that there will be goals at both ends at Goodison, then you will find both teams to score at the value of 8/11. Over 2.5 goals is marketed at 5/6.
Team News
Everton will be boosted by the returns of Idrissa Gueye and Jarrad Branthwaite, after the duo missed out on the Burnley win due to suspension. The duo should return to the team sheet after being well-rested. Vitaliy Mykolenko will also be pushing for a place in the lineup after missing the trip to Turf Moor due to a “niggle”, in the words of Dyche.
The Toffees, however, are going to miss, Dele Alli (groin), Andre Gomes (fitness), Seamus Coleman (foot) and Ashley Young.
Fulham have been dealt a huge blow for this quarter-final with front man, Raul Jimenez, starting his three-match ban after getting sent off in the loss to Newcastle. This leaves Marco Silva the choice of picking Carlos Vinicius or Rodrigo Muniz to lead the line.
Defender Calvin Bassey missed out on the weekend due to illness, so Tuesday might come around too soon for him to return to action. Adama Traore (hamstring) and Tim Ream (calf) remain in the treatment room.
Over 1.5 Everton goals @ EVS
Despite being in relegation battles for the past two years, and this season’s point deduction dragging them into another one, the Toffees have looked much more competitive this term.
They have won eight games in the Premier League this term, as many as they won in the entirety of 2022-23. Dyche’s men are on a winning streak of four games, so their confidence is going to be sky-high.
Across 10 games in all competitions this term, the hosts have scored at least twice – and we fancy them to grab a couple of goals in this midweek cup tie. Particularly because at EVS, it offers great value for a home side to just score two goals, even if the team may be rotated slightly.
But we don’t think Dyche will change too much, this being because he has never reached a major semi-final as a manager, and also because it was seven years ago that Everton last made it to one themselves.
With the points deduction debacle going on, the club could get a real lift from going far in the Carabao Cup, and Dyche will be itching to deliver.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score anytime @ 8/5
He’s Everton’s main man up front but Dominic Calvert-Lewin has only made two appearances in the Carabao Cup. But in those two games, the striker registered a goal and an assist. Given that there is a place in the semi-finals at stake, Dyche will likely give his team the best chance to progress and to do that he will need his best players on the field.
Calvert-Lewin, when fit, is one of them. And he will be rubbing his hands together at the thought of facing a defence that shipped three goals at the weekend. He may only have four goals across all competitions this term, but the Everton marksman gets himself into great scoring positions, and he should have a few opportunities at goal on Tuesday.
