eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion!
Vintage Bulova Computron
Another eBay Finds, another vintage LED for your bidding pleasure! This Computron example is one of (if not the) earliest Bulova LED’s. Sometimes referred to as the “Big Block” owing to its big, chunky gold nugget style case. This case is in pretty good shape, with some marks and wear from use but hasn’t been polished. The LED window has no cracks, and all the LED segments work, and the watch runs and works properly per the seller. The watch comes with its original integrated bracelet as well. These are on the scarcer side, and it’s nice to find an example like this that looks good and works well.
Vintage Baylor
Here we have a simple little Baylor sporty dress watch with a great design. The watch has a chrome plated case with stainless steel back, and measures 34mm wide. Case is in good condition with no apparent pitting that I could see. The two-tone silver quadrant style dial is nice and clean, with stylized Arabic numerals on the even hours and simple stick markers for the odd hours. There is no movement picture but the seller states the watch runs and keeps time. It even comes with the original box, always a good thing. Simple, inexpensive watch with nice vintage style.
Vintage Accutron Astronaut
Next up is a super sweet vintage Accutron Astronaut in stunning condition. The 38mm steel case looks superb, and the two-tone black and white bezel insert is spectacular, with almost no visible wear. The black dial looks mint, with nice lume plots and lume filled dauphine hands. The arrow tipped GMT is excellent as well. The watch comes on the correct original ‘bullet’ style bracelet with Accutron signed buckle. This one is a caliber 214 tuning fork movement, so there is no crown, just the setting device on the caseback. No movement picture but the seller states the watch runs well and keeps time. The watch even comes with the cool original Accutron hang tag. These Astronaut models are highly sought after, and you don’t see them show up for auction in this condition often.
Vintage Hamilton “Panda” Chronograph
Here is a beautiful vintage Hamilton ‘panda’ chronograph in excellent condition. The 36mm classically styled steel case, with simple slim lugs and bezel looks unpolished. The white dial with black subdials looks original and in near perfect condition. This is the classic “panda” style dial, such a great look. Simple steel markers and hands complete the look. The crown is original and signed with the Hamilton logo. This gem is powered by the Valjoux 7730, signed as a Hamilton 623, manual wind movement, which is clean and works well per the seller. Just a really nice looking, classic vintage chronograph.
Vintage Pulsar 3416-2 LED Watch
What’s better than one vintage LED watch? Why two of course! Sorry to routinely bombard you with LEDs, but when they look this cool I just can’t resist. This vintage circa 1979 Pulsar 3416-2 is simply brilliant, with a gorgeous and seldom seen green LED screen. The space-age case shape is unique and super cool, and appears in great shape with sharp edges. There is a custom engraved date on the back, 2/24/79. The large LED glass is intact, and there aren’t any missing LED segments. The movement looks clean and the seller states it works well. The watch comes on a Speidel stretch bracelet that clearly isn’t original, but it’s from the period and looks pretty good with the watch. It doesn’t get much more retro-cool than this Pulsar.
Vintage Elgin Chronograph
Last up this week is this chunky reverse panda Elgin chronograph. The big stainless steel cushion case is 39mm wide and in great shape, unpolished with original brushed finish and sharp edges. The black dial with white sub-dials looks spectacular, and has a date window at 6 o’clock which always fits well with dual sub-dials. Nice bold steel hour and minute hands and a big orange sweep seconds hand completes the look. The Valjoux 7734 manual wind movement is clean, and the seller states it runs well and functions properly. This is a great vintage chronograph from a storied brand that shouldn’t break the bank (as far as vintage chronographs go….).
