I tipped up Highfield Princess to win the King’s Stand earlier in the week, and for me she was an extremely unfortunate loser. The winner Bradsell drifted consistently throughout the latter stages, carrying ‘Princess’ out to her left, just as she was trying to gather momentum to go and win her race.
With an official deficit of a length there was little hope that the stewards would reverse the placings, but she’d have won in my mind, free of the interference. Very interesting then that she’s slated to take part in another Group One on Saturday, this time over a furlong further.
She’s obviously in great heart, and if taking her chance, fingers crossed, I hope that well-deserved compensation of sorts awaits. She’s super-talented and one of our very best sprinters, no question. Fingers crossed for a bit of welcome luck in running.
Her record is exemplary. Nunthorpe heroine. Further Group One success at the Curragh. The Prix Maurice de Gheest. Pick your own highlight.
She won a modest Class 6 Ayr 7f handicap back in Sept 2020 off a mark of 58. She’s now officially rated – wait for it – at 119. What a training performance by John Quinn. What an effort all round by this wonderful racemare.
Fingers crossed for another glorious chapter on Saturday.
Have a good ‘un – we certainly have loved the action, and I guess the highlight was tipping up Frankie’s Gold Cup winner. Hope you’ve had some joy, and as always, look after yourselves.
