How the Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight Event Works
As we near the end of Season 2, Blizzard is introducing the DIablo 4 Midwinter Blight, a time-limited event that starts on the 12th of December and runs until the 2nd of January 2024. It’ll mark Diablo 4’s first Christmas event, so happy festivities!
During the event, you can obtain cosmetic rewards, a new magical elixir, a title if you slay the event boss, and a new Seasonal aspect called the Shard of Dawn.
Remember that these can be only obtainable during the event but will persist after the event, so try to obtain these before the event ends.
Head to our Diablo 4 builds site for the best choices to help you with everything from leveling to AoZ.
Midwinter Blight Event Rewards

- 5 unique backpiece cosmetics, one for each class.
- 8 Different weapon pieces.
- 1 Mount Trophy.
- Two titles for killing the event boss (Red-Cloaked Horror)

- A new elixir called Gileon’s Brew

Where to Start
Firstly, before you begin, you should head over to the Midwinter Square in Kyovashad just left of the waypoint, as there will be an Event-specific Merchant known as Gileon.
This NPC is where you can open the Event shop to purchase certain rewards during the event. You’ll need a currency known as “Midwinter Proof”, exchanged at the workbench just south of Gileon with certain event-specific Materials to buy things.

Event Materials (How to Obtain Rewards)
There are three types of event materials you can farm and then exchange for Midwinter Proofs, and all three can be obtained inside the Purple Zone on the map named “The Midwinter Blight” (Fractured Peaks).
These three materials are called Blighted Fragments, Lost Heirlooms, and Red-Cloaked Trophies and are farmed in different ways inside the Midwinter Blight.
- Blighted Fragments are collected by slaying Blightfiends. Blightfiends can be found inside a Midwinter Blight.
- Lost Heirlooms drop from Frigid Husks; these are scattered around the Midwinter Blight and are similar to other destructables.
- The Red-Cloaked Trophy is obtained from the Red-Cloaked Horror, a big bad boss goat which has a chance to spawn when you complete the Mastery for the Blighted Revelry Event, which is hidden randomly within Fractured Peaks.
The Midwinter Tribute Board
When you exchange the Midwinter Blight materials for Midwinter Proof, you’ll be rewarded with Midwinter Tribute gaining rewards, changing the appearance of Midwinter Square, and unlocking tiers on the Midwinter Tribute board; the board functions similarly to the Hunters Acclaim Board introduced in Season 2 Blood Harvest.
The Board will reward you with Gold and Midwinter Spoils.
- Midwinter Spoil rewards random quality items (Rare and legendary), herbs, gem fragments, potent blood, and Gileon’s Brew).
Gileon’s Brew
Other than the cosmetic rewards, the event will also Introduce a magical elixir known as Gileon’s Brew; this elixir is helpful and will persist even after the event. Be sure to stock it as this will be incredibly useful for leveling a new character.
- Gileon’s Brews is a Magic Elixer that increases Maximum life and Lucky hit Chance by 15% and increases experience gain by 15% for 30 minutes. (2:29)
- Gileon’s Brew will not expire after the event, so stock up!
- Gileon’s Brew can be found in Midwinter Caches or purchased from Gileon directly for 1 Midwinter Proof.
Shard of Dawn
A Midwinter aspect can also be farmed during the event and purchased from Gileon for 10 Midwinter Proofs.
This aspect gives an incredible buff during the event, so be sure to use it inside a Midwinter Blight to assist in mowing down Blightfriends.
Two New Titles (Red-Cloaked Horror)
During the event, if you manage to slay the Red-Cloaked Horror that has a chance to spawn when you complete the Mastery for the Blighted Revelry event within Fractured Peaks, you will be rewarded with 2 titles, Frigid and Reveler.
You may have to explore the zone to find him, as he may also spawn randomly within Fractured peaks.
Future Events: What’s Next? Secret Cow Level?
As the Season nears an end, the developers have said that one of the best things about these limited-time events like the Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight is that they allow them to try out and experiment with specific mechanics and concepts without committing them fully to the game, so we should expect future events such as this in Season 3.
The developers also confirmed that although there is currently no secret cow level, there are secrets left undiscovered within the Midwinter Blight event, so keep an eye out for those secrets, and if you find any, be sure to share them on our Discord!
