Developing Your Psychic Abilities: Don’t Skip This Important Step

developing your psychic abilities
I’m not gonna lie. Sometimes, developing your psychic abilities can be overwhelming.

In theory it’s not difficult at all. But in reality, it’s not always easy to embrace our natural intuitive gifts in the world we live in.

Right now, you might be on your journey and feel like giving up. Or you might wonder if you’ll ever be able to help people by giving psychic or mediumship readings with confidence.

I understand, because I felt the same way, too. Back in 2000, before I gave professional intuitive and mediumship readings, I sat in my first psychic development class and almost quit because I was overwhelmed by energy.

I learned an important lesson that day and want to share the story with you to inspire you to keep going. Grab your fav beverage and read on!

Developing Your Psychic Abilities

If someone would have said to me, “you’ll be developing your psychic abilities when you’re in your early 20’s,” I would have thought they were crazy.

I started having precognitive dreams after my daughter was born. (By the way, the birth of a child is one event that can trigger a psychic awakening.)

At the time, I was skeptical of psychics, but curious about the dreams I was having. I really wanted to get to the bottom of this psychic dream thing once and for all because I was sure that I was either:

  • going crazy or
  • having an intuitive awakening

Then, one day, I saw an ad for a local psychic development class. It was a spiritual development circle where a group of people would work together two hours per week for six weeks.

It sounded interesting, so my sister-in-law and I signed up to go.

First Psychic Development Class

The evening of the first class arrived and I was excited.

We walked in and were greeted by a woman named Kathleen.

Kathleen radiated beautiful and positive energy, and I immediately felt at ease. She then explained that she was a psychic medium and would be our mentor for the next six weeks.

Soon, more students arrived; there were nine of us in total.

I looked around the group I would be developing psychic ability with, and it was not what I expected!

Our group consisted of:

  • A middle-aged husband and wife
  • a carpenter
  • a motorcycle dude
  • a teacher
  • a young woman who had always had psychic visions
  • a quiet, elderly woman
  • my sister-in-law, and me

Everyone seemed kind and the carpenter guy was really funny, so that made us all feel at ease.

Next, Kathleen asked us to psychically read each other.

First psychic reading

Thankfully, the extroverted carpenter volunteered to go first.

Kathleen told him to share everything he felt about the person sitting across from him.

He was afraid that what he was saying sounded “obvious” and that he wasn’t getting any real psychic information. But our mentor encouraged him to keep going.

(I later learned that trust is an important part of developing your psychic abilities.)

About this time, a strange thing happened…

I started visibly shaking, but I wasn’t cold or too nervous. I didn’t know what was wrong with me — I just shook like when I had the flu.

I had no idea what was going on, but it started to freak me out. I thought about leaving, but my sister-in-law was my ride.

My turn to give a reading

Finally, it was my turn. Kathleen asked me to share what I intuitively felt about the carpenter.

I was shaking so much that when I spoke, I sounded nervous and unclear.

I wasn’t really nervous at that moment, though. It was more that I felt silly — like everything I said would be wrong. But then I took a deep breath and decided to go for it. I opened up and shared everything I sensed.

After a few minutes, I was actually having fun! I was still shaking, but kept talking.

The carpenter laughed and validated a lot of the things I said.

Next, Kathleen asked me to share what I felt about the next person in the group, and so on.

It was fun and I did good, but I was still shaking really bad — worse than when I’ve had a high fever and the flu.

When I got home, I felt “off”. I tried to relax, but I kept shaking. I was exhausted, but I couldn’t sleep.

It was also hard to concentrate, and I didn’t feel present in my body.

The feeling was so intense, that I thought to myself, “If this is what it’s like to be psychic, I’m not interested!”

At that time, I didn’t know anyone that was into metaphysics, so I had to do some research. Down the rabbit hole I went!

The Missing Piece

To make a long story short, I learned that it was the energy of doing intuitive work that affected me.

Of course, energy isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but you need to learn how to get spiritually grounded if you are going to do psychic or mediumship work. This is a very important step that many beginners skip.

Spiritual grounding is the practice of connecting with our inner selves, nature, and the universe to find clarity, balance, peace, and purpose.

By practicing spiritual grounding, we can cultivate a sense of inner peace and strengthen our mental and emotional well-being.

Whether it’s through meditation, prayer, spending time in nature, or simply taking a few moments each day to reflect, spiritual grounding can greatly enhance our overall sense of well-being and bring us closer to living a more fulfilling life.

So, take the time to explore different grounding practices and find what resonates with your soul.

Don’t Give Up on Developing Your Psychic Ability
