Daniel Negreanu Rolls Over Tough Final Table at PokerGO’s 2024 PLO II for $265,000

Daniel Negreanu Rolls Over Tough Final Table at PokerGO’s 2024 PLO II for $265,000

Daniel Negreanu has done it again, this time at the PokerGO Pot Limit Omaha Series II in Las Vegas. He won the sixth event of the special all-PLO series that is currently taking place at PokerGO’s studios in Las Vegas for $265,200.

Negreanu came into the final table of six second in chips, but soon took the chip lead and never looked back despite facing some of the most feared and accomplished high-rolling poker tournament players now working on planet Earth. Of course, Negreanu and his $54 million in tournament cashes is included on that list — or any list of the world’s greatest poker players.

Simply put, Negreanu continues to dominate and is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, it looks like the 50-year-old is getting better and stronger. This was his fourth win in PokerGO Tour events in 2024, including a victory in the $50,000 World Series of Poker’s Player’s Championship, which PGT paid to have its name attached.

Tough final table

Like most of the PokerGO Tour high roller events, the final six players were a group that have forgotten more about poker than most of us could ever wish to learn about the game.

First to go was Nacho Barbero, a high-rolling regular who finds himself in the money and at final tables in these nosebleed series more often than not. But he took an early exit after Alex Foxen flopped a set of kings right at the start of the final day. That was the last time anyone but Negreanu held the chip lead. Barbero won $52,000 for sixth.

Nick Schulman was the next player to be bounced after his pocket jacks ran into Negreanu’s turned straight. Schulman, who is inching towards the $21 million cash mark, added another $67,600 to that stack for finishing fifth. It was his third cash of the PLO Series II in single-digits. He also finished 20th in another event.

Jeremy Ausmus, PokerGO’s current season point’s leader, spent the last month cashing in PokerGO Tour events — sixth since Sept. 12’s runner-up finish in a $10,100 event at the PGT 2024 Poker Masters. He stalled in fourth after Negreanu turned trips. He cashed $93,600.

Matthew Wantman has been running deep in poker tournaments since at least 2010, but his 2024 is turning into one to remember. He already won two events on the PokerGO Tour in 2024 — his second came in this series just last week — and four out of his five top cashes all came within the last two years.

Negreanu took him out in third after his jacks failed to improve against Kid Poker’s queens. He won $119,600.

Foxen was Negreau’s final victim after both players made a full house, Negreanu’s turned queens full of aces sent Foxen’s rivered tens full to the payout desk to collect his $171,600 second-place prize.

The win marks Negreanu’s third title of the 2024 PGT season and nineteenth overall cash, as he now sits in second place on the overall leaderboard with 1,998 points thanks to his ninth career PGT title.

The event attracted 104 players, which the top 15 were Pais at least $20,800. They included ballers like Sean Winter (eighth for $41,600), Issac Haxton and Ben Lamb (15th and 14th for $20,800), and Chino Rheem (ninth for $31,200).
