Sydney just got a whole lot spicier with the launch of Dan Dan, a new Asian-inspired bar and restaurant that’s shaking things up with a modern twist on the classics.
Diners can dig into a menu packed with all your favourite Asian dishes, plus some signature Dan Dan creations that feature bold flavours inspired by Head Chef Andrew Duncan’s travels. Picture this: potato gems topped with spicy yellowfin and caviar, and burrata served with gochujang and roti.
Located on Harris Street, just a quick stroll from the harbour, this 170-seat venue is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s perfect for everyone—from adventurous foodies looking to spice things up to traditionalists who know exactly what they want.
At night, the vibe shifts to a lively bar and dining scene. Enjoy tasty share plates like caramel-drenched fried eggplant and cheeseburger spring rolls, along with some reimagined dumplings—hello, laksa bombs!
Whether you’re craving Dan Dan Noodles, seared scallop jungle curry, or Mongolian lamb, expect some big flavours.
To kick things off, Dan Dan offers two types of banquet feasts: the eight-dish Classic Banquet and the eleven-dish Epic Banquet, both designed to surprise and delight with some of the restaurant’s most popular options.
And it’s not just the food that’s exciting; the cocktail menu is equally inspired. Check out crowd-pleasers like the Banana Bread Espresso Martini, Cherry Blossom Sour, and a wasabi-spiced Shizuoka Margarita.
Dan Dan is the brainchild of the duo behind Sydney CBD’s beloved sandwich and cocktail bar Tiny’s, bringing their signature quirky charm and culinary flair to Pyrmont.
With the experience of Tiny’s founders, seasoned Sydney hospitality expert Bobby Volcevski, and acclaimed chef Andrew Duncan, they’ve poured their restaurant and bar know-how into this new spot.
Bobby said, “Dan Dan is the result of some of the best food Andrew and I have tasted on our travels. We’ve crafted a menu packed with the punchy flavours that Asian cuisine is known for.”
He added, “With such a cool menu, our drinks had to match. The Banana Bread Espresso Martini has been a hit with the locals in Pyrmont.”
Dan Dan’s minimalist vibe, designed by Tomas Scerbo from Interior Life, features muted colours and functional design, reflecting the laid-back attitude while incorporating elements of Asian culture, like round tables with lazy Susans. The lively atmosphere and modern decor make it the perfect spot to catch up with mates, celebrate special occasions, or just escape the everyday grind.
