champions league

Crvena Zvezda and Bodo/Glimt meet in the second leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off on Wednesday (20:00 KO, TNT Sports 2).

Norwegian league leaders Glimt hold a 2-1 lead after last week’s first leg but Crvena Zvezda, or Red Star Belgrade, have an impressive home record and this tie is on a knife edge ahead of Wednesday’s clash.

Team News

The hosts have no fresh injury or suspension issues and may name the same starting line-up that slipped to a narrow defeat in Bodo last week.

Zvezda shot-stopper Omri Glazer is listed as a doubt but as he hasn’t featured yet this season, he seems unlikely to feature.

Midfield pair Milos Degenek and Vladimir Lucic are definitely out for Red Star.

Glimt are deep into the Norwegian domestic season and inevitably have a few injury issues to contend with.

Omar Elabdellaoui, Nino Zugelj, Brede Moe, Gaute Vetti and Brice Wembangomo are all absent, while Kasper Hogh and Jens Petter Hauge will probably return to the starting side after featuring from the bench in the 6-0 win over Sarpsborg at the weekend.

Crvena zvezda vs Bodo/Glimt Odds

Crvena zvezda are the favourites to win at 21/20. Glimt are 21/10 to secure a victory in Serbia and a draw is 11/4, while the visitors are 8/11 to win or draw in the double chance market and either result would be good enough to see them progress.

Both teams scored in the first leg as Glimt claimed a 2-1 win and both teams to score in the return fixture is 8/15, with over 2.5 goals priced at 8/13.

Crvena zvezda to win @ 4/5

Zvezda trail by one goal but with home advantage they can at least force this tie into extra time.

Red Star have a fantastic home record and they haven’t lost a competitive game at the Rajko Mitic Stadium since December of last year, when they suffered a 3-2 defeat to then-defending champions Manchester City in the group stages of the Champions League.

Zvezda have won 14 of their 16 games since that loss and have scored 10 goals in just three games at this venue this season (W2, D1).

Glimt were deserved winners in the first leg but allowing Red Star to halve the deficit late on may prove costly as they have occasionally been vulnerable away from home, losing two of their 10 away trips in Norway’s Eliteserien.

Crvenabanner Cherif Ndiaye to score any time @ 11/5

Zvezda forward Cherif Ndiaye had a quiet game in the first leg but could be the Serbs’ danger man on Wednesday.

The Senegal international hit four goals in the first three Serbian league games of the season after weighing in with 11 in 28 league outings last term.

Stretching back into last season, Ndiaye has scored four goals in his last two appearances at the Rajko Mitic and at 11/5 he looks a good anytime scorer option.
