Even though the Indianapolis Colts were able to beat Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 without rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson under center, the team is heading in the right direction with the news that he’ll be back on the field in Week 4 in order to face the Los Angeles Rams.
According to head coach Shane Steichen, Richardson will get the start on Sunday after clearing the league’s concussion protocol via ESPN.
Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol Friday and will start Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, coach Shane Steichen said.
Although many believed that Richardson was the biggest risk of all the rookie quarterbacks coming into this NFL this season, the Florida Gators product has turned out to be arguably the best of the bunch thus far, as he poses a dual threat and definitely doesn’t lack confidence as a first-year starter.

Despite his obvious talent and the Colts seemingly having found their new franchise quarterback, Richardson did get banged up early, but he addressed those injuries.
“The injuries I’ve gotten so far, it’s nothing major,” Richardson said. “I banged my knee on the turf. Everybody gets hurt on turf. And then I hit my head on the ground. I don’t think I should change the way I play. I think I play smart enough to know when to get down.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Richardson can stay healthy throughout the rest of his rookie campaign, as his style of play could lead to more time missed.
