Cloud9 to Win League of Legends LCS Summer Season 2023

  • What: League of Legends 2023 LCS Summer Season
  • Date: June 14 – July 21, 2023
  • Location: Online
  • How to watch: Twitch

The League of Legends League Championship Series, also known as the LOL LCS,  Summer Season 2023, begins on June 14, 2023 and runs through July 21. The Summer Season features 10 League of Legends teams: Team Liquid, FlyQuest, Evil Geniuses, Cloud9, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Golden Guardians, Immortals, TSM, and NRG. Last year Team Liquid finished at the top of the 2022 Summer Standings with a 12-5-1 record. 100 Thieves came in second at 8-7-3. Both teams are back for the 2023 LCS Summer Season.

One big change for the 2023 Summer Season is that NRG is back in the mix after being out of the competition for seven years. The LCS Summer Season 2023 will see teams compete on Thursdays and Fridays at 2:00 p.m. ET. During super weeks, competition will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Super weeks are scheduled for June 21-23 and July 19-21.

Teams will face each other twice during the Summer Season. The top eight teams from the regular season qualify for the LCS Playoffs, which take place on August 19-20 at Prudential Center in New Jersey. The top three teams from the LCS Summer Season also qualify for the 2023 World Championship.

FlyQuest

FlyQuest played well in the Spring Season group stages, where the squad posted a 14-4 record, which was tied with Cloud9 for best in the Spring standings. However, Cloud9 easily dispatched them in the second round of the Spring Playoffs 3-0. FlyQuest followed that defeat with a 3-2 loss to Golden Guardians in the Loser’s Bracket of the Spring tournament.

All but one member of the FlyQuest roster who competed in the Spring is back for the Summer Season. The team’s new addition is Vulcan, who joined the squad in May. Vulcan replaces Eyla, who averaged 9.56 assists per game for FlyQuest before he left the team.

Cloud9

The 2022 LCS World Championship winners, Cloud9, followed that victory with a 14-4 record in the Spring Season. The team then won the Spring Playoffs, defeating Golden Guardians in the final 3-1 to claim the $100,000 winner’s share of the prize pool for that event. It’s somewhat surprising to see Cloud9 not listed as the favorite for the Summer Season since they downed FlyQuest 3-0 in the Spring Playoffs.

The roster for Cloud9 is the same for the Summer Season as it was for the Spring Season. The only change to the lineup is that they added David Han as Assistant General Manager.

Evil Geniuses

The 2022 LCS Summer Season winners, Evil Geniuses, finished in fifth place in the Spring season with a record of 10-8. They followed that with a fourth-place finish in the Spring Playoffs. The team shook things up after the Spring Season, and will look very different for the 2023 Summer Season. The following are new players on the Evil Geniuses roster since the Spring Playoffs: Revenge, Armao, Sheiden, UNFORGIVEN, and Eyla.

With the change in lineup, the team showed that it was not happy with how the Spring session ended.

Best bets for LCS Summer Season 2023

FlyQuest look like a strong team heading into the 2023 LCS Summer Season, but they don’t present a great deal of betting value. Cloud9, with how they played in the Spring Season, look like a better bet to win the LCS Summer Season than FlyQuest. If you’re looking for a value bet, the revamped Evil Geniuses are worth taking a small flyer on for the upset win.

Best betting pick for League of Legends LCS Summer Season 2023: Cloud9.
