Instructions for Christmas Tree Cinnamon Breadsticks
First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. In a small mixing bowl, combine softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon and stir with a fork or spoon until well combined. Open the can of refrigerated pizza crust dough and press it out into a long rectangle on a floured surface. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into two equal triangles. Cut off a small strip and form into the trunk of the tree.
Line a large baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper Place a large triangle of pizza dough on the cookie sheet and press into a Christmas tree shape. Gently spread the cinnamon mixture over the dough, leaving the edges uncovered.
Place the second dough triangle over the cinnamon layer of the first triangle of dough. Press the edges together of both triangles and press the trunk into the base of the tree. Using a pizza cutter, cut slices into each side of the dough tree about one inch apart, leaving about 2 inches in the center of the tree on each line.
Twist each of these pieces a few times to create twisty cinnamon breadsticks.
Melt butter and then brush over the entire tree. If you want to add a little cinnamon to your butter, you can. But you don’t have to! I did, for a little extra flavor. Place into the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked all the way through on the bottom.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk powdered sugar and milk together to create a glaze. Drizzle this over the entire tree shaped baked bread. Serve warm. Guests can pull each cinnamon stick from the Christmas tree!
