Chiefs make Harrison Butker highest-paid kicker in the NFL

  • By Admin

The Kansas City Chiefs secured another key piece after inking Harrison Butker to a four-year, $25.6 million extension. His new deal makes him the league’s highest-paid kicker.

The contract includes a $17.75 million guarantee, which will keep him locked in through the 2028 season.

Butker’s new deal puts him at a $6.4 million annual salary, which is ahead of Baltimore Ravens’ Justin Tucker and Philadelphia Eagles’ Jake Elliott, who both earn around $6 million per year on their respective deals.

The 29-year-old was in the final year of his previous five-year extension, making $3.9 million for the 2024 season.

“There’s no place I’d rather be than with the Chiefs, excited to finalize a 4-year extension,” Butker wrote on X via ESPN. “To the Heights!”

Butker has spent his first seven seasons with the Chiefs, where he has been a stabilizing factor. He holds a career 89.1 percent field goal percentage, which is second all time to Justin Tucker’s 90.2 percent.

Butker is coming off making 33 of 35 field goal attempts for a 94.3 percent rate, including drilling all five of his 50-plus field goals topped by a 60-yarder.

The Georgia Tech product has been a highly reliable factor with his leg, especially in the playoffs holding an 88.9 percent field goal rate. That includes making six out of seven 50-yard attempts along with making a 57-yarder.

His playoff resume is headlined by a 29-yarder with three seconds left in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. It’s a play which forced overtime, and the Chiefs won. He also made a 27-yarder with eight seconds left in Super Bowl LVII to push Kansas past Philadelphia.
