Championship Top 6 Finish Odds: Coventry and Sheff Utd pushing for play-offs
Five of the last six winners of the Championship play-offs are currently in the Premier League, with Luton Town the only exception. One of them will even play Champions League football next season as Aston Villa hit heights that most second tier teams can only dream of.
But now a whole host of teams will attempt to make it into the top-six. We’ve assessed their chances below, and taken a look at some of the outsiders to break into the play-off picture. Check out the Championship Top 6 Finish odds below.
Championship Top 6 Finish Odds
Luton @ 11/10
Rob Edwards’ men are looking good for a top-two challenge, and should be featuring in the top-six as an absolute minimum this term. They prepared well for relegation from the Premier League and are now set to make another charge with a squad that should stay together for the entirety of the season.
Ross Barkley has been their only major departure, while the likes of Carlton Morris should flourish after a spell in the Premier League. I’m extremely confident that Luton will be on the brink of promotion this term, and they should be safe inside that top-six come May.

Middlesbrough @ 5/4
Michael Carrick is extremely popular in North Yorkshire and it feels like Boro could return to the top-six after a season away. They finished eighth last term but have made some shrewd additions in the form of Aidan Morris and Delano Burgzorg and that could, along with a better start take them into the top-six.
They also appear to have more depth than last term, and crucially, have a goalscorer up front. Emmanuel Latte Lath scored 11 goals in the final 12 appearances of the last campaign and has Golden Boot credentials. If he’s in contention come May, Boro should feature in the end-of-season madness.

Coventry @ 11/8
Coventry reached the FA Cup semi-final last season as they pushed Manchester United all the way at Wembley, but their cup run came with negatives. With a thin squad, they lost their way in the league, eventually finishing ninth after another painfully slow start.
However, now with Ellis Simms, Haji Wright, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Milan van Ewijk all settled, and with the additions of Jack Rudoni, Ephron Mason-Clark and Brandon Thomas-Asante, they should go well. The Sky Blues are a force to be reckoned with under Mark Robins and expectations have changed. It would now be a disappointment if they didn’t crack the top-six.

WBA @ 15/8
With Carlos Corberan, arguably the most talented manager in the division in charge of West Brom, hopes were high heading into the summer. He had just led them to a fifth-placed finish and with added investment, it was believed they would be top-six certainties.
However, my confidence in them has evaporated as the summer has progressed. Cedric Kipre, Conor Townsend, Okay Yokuslu and Thomas-Asante have all departed, four crucial players for the Baggies last term. Although it has been said that additions are on the way, that quartet is going to be difficult to replace and WBA are surely going to be weaker than they were last term. I see a play-off finish being difficult to replicate this time around.

Norwich @ 2/1
Norwich City come into this season with a lot of excitement under new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup, although they and WBA are in the same boat. After a failed play-off campaign, they are now at risk of losing their key stars to bigger clubs.
Gabriel Sara has already departed for Galatasaray, while there is interest in Josh Sargent and Jon Rowe. Those three were the stars of last season and it feels as though the Canaries will be seriously hampered if there are any more departures. There are others I am far more confident in than Norwich right now.

Sheff Utd @ 2/1
Sheffield United could be slightly flying under the radar in my view, which is a crazy statement to make about a team that has just been relegated from the Premier League. They picked up just 16 points in the top flight and a big summer of change was needed.
Luckily, that is exactly what they have got as the old guard have moved out and in their place have come Callum O’Hare, Harrison Burrows, Kieffer Moore and Harry Souttar. Those four strengthen United massively, while they also still have the likes of Anel Ahmedhodzic and Gustavo Hamer on their books. That makes up a strong Championship squad, and one that should make the top-six.

Sunderland @ 11/4
A young and promising squad certainly has what it takes to break back into the top-six of the Championship this season. Jack Clarke is arguably the best individual player in the division while the likes of Jobe Bellingham and Dan Ballard should be able to increase their contributions.
However, I still have reservations over new manager Regis Le Bris. The length of time it took to appoint him makes me feel like he was not the first choice, and his record at Lorient doesn’t fill me with confidence either. I’m not sure he will be the man to return Sunderland to the play-offs, but somebody else could…

Stoke @ 11/4
Not happening in my book. There’s potential in this squad, but Stoke have finished between 14th and 17th in the league for the past six seasons and there’s been little to no improvement in that time. Now Steven Schumacher is at the helm, but I’m not sure there is enough in this squad to make the top-six.

Sheff Wed @ 11/4
Sheffield Wednesday have hope for a play-off push this season and it is all thanks to one man. Danny Rohl not only saved the club from near-certain relegation last term, but led them up the table and had them playing some terrific stuff come the end of the campaign.
It’s no wonder that Owls’ fans are gearing up for a far more positive campaign. Max Lowe, Nathaniel Chalobah, Jamal Lowe and Ben Hamer have all come through the door to bring Championship know-how, and this squad is now far stronger than it was last term. They are a decent price to break into the play-offs.
