Celtic host Rangers in the first Old Firm derby of the season and the Bhoys are red-hot favourites to get the better of their rivals. The Gers will hope that last weekend’s 6-0 victory over Ross County will give them a much-needed boost, but a cagey contest is anticipated in an 11/2 bet builder.

Below you can find my Celtic vs Ranger Bet Builder Tips.

Under 2.5 goals

In terms of the most likely winner of Sunday’s Old Firm clash, it is certainly Celtic. However, price is the key factor and at 8/13, the Bhoys are a little on the short side.

Of course, it has been a tricky summer for Rangers, who have failed to add much quality to their squad, but things may not be quite as bad as the prices suggest and the Gers could frustrate Celtic.

Philippe Clement showed that they are a solid and robust side in two Champions League qualification matches against Dynamo Kyiv, and given Rangers’ shaky start, Clement will be wary of taking a hammering at Parkhead.

Two of the five Old Firm games last season ended 1-0, and while three eclipsed the 2.5-goal line, two of those matches saw a Rangers player sent off.

Celtic lost key attacking force Matt O’Riley to Brighton and it’s possible that the Bhoys may find it a little tougher to break the Gers down than the prices suggest.

Celtic vs Rangers Odds

Over 49.5 bookings points

The OId Firm is one of the most intense fixtures in world football and it doesn’t take a great deal for the match to boil over.

There were 12 yellow cards shown, for a bookings points make up of 120, by referee Nick Walsh in the most recent Old Firm contest and a total of 31 yellows and two reds in the last season’s five matches between Celtic and Rangers.

Arbiter John Beaton is in charge on Sunday and the 42-year-old has been pretty strict in the seven games he has officiated this term.

Beaton has dished out 28 yellows and one red this season and he is likely to be busy with the cards at Parkhead.

Robin Propper to be shown a card

Robin Propper was shown a yellow card on his Rangers debut against Motherwell and the Dutch defender could be in trouble again at Parkhead. The 30-year-old was booked eight times for Twente last season and the centre-back is likely to be called into plenty of defensive action against Celtic.

Propper missed Rangers’ 6-0 victory over Ross County through injury, but with Leon Balogan now on the sidelines, it’s likely that the Dutchman will be rushed back into action.

Playing Celtic at 100% is no easy task and a slightly below-peak Propper could find himself in trouble with referee Beaton.
