Flat-race action comes from Carlisle on Monday afternoon (2.20pm – 5.27pm). Seven races, and plenty to look forward to.
Many will be journeying south after this to the Royal meeting, and how they’d like to travel with a winner or more under their belt(s). Here’s a couple I hope can run well this afternoon.
Selections;
2.20 Project Geofin
This one ran very well in a warm little Beverley novice last month that’s working out nicely. Another stiff finish here, which should be ideal. Could be better drawn (10) but run style so far hints at late gains, so I’m not too concerned.
Not much evidence to go on elsewhere, and with claimer Harry Russell (3) being on board again I’m very hopeful for Geoff Oldroyd’s charge.
3.50 Alpina Express
9st 12lb, which includes a 6lb penalty – but I reckon this Johnston lass could be better than this level. Dotted up at Ayr last week and looks to strike again while the iron is hot. 6lb might not be anywhere near enough to stop her.
Talking of hot, Joe Fanning is up top once again and he’s having a brilliant spell right now. Won’t be a huge price but anything odds-against is good in my book, if poss.
Enjoy this lovely, quirky, challenging track; and get ready for what’s to come later in the week!
