His appointment represents a significant step forward for the Consortium, which, with him, has found the ideal figure to guide and enhance one of the most representative symbols of Sicilian winemaking excellence.
Sicilian, born in 1984, qualified as a lawyer with a specialisation as a corporate lawyer, Pugliesi combines his passion for his land with experience acquired over the years as a corporate legal consultant, agricultural entrepreneur and founding partner of ImpresaItalia Consulting, a company specialised in consultancy and subsidized finance for wine companies and organisations promoting and protecting regional products.
“We are pleased to announce that Camillo Pugliesi has been appointed General Director of the Sicilia DOC Wines Consortium” said Antonio Rallo, President of the Consortium. “With Pugliesi, our group acquires a new impetus; in fact, we can already count on an excellent team of professionals: together, with this additional contribution, we can open up new growth prospects for the Sicilian wine sector.”
With a background in law and consolidated experience in subsidized finance, Pugliesi has dedicated his entire career to supporting businesses and strengthening structures for the protection and promotion of the territory. His connection with Sicily is demonstrated by a path along which he has been president of trade associations in support of the development of some of the island’s agricultural and winemaking companies, and a consultant for various bodies promoting Sicilian wine production. Starting on December 1st, his arrival at the Consortium will be marked by specific, ambitious objectives: intensify relations with members, expand opportunities for territorial promotion, strengthen relations with institutions and make a strategic contribution, together with the various actors in the sector, to the new Regional Wine Plan.
“Taking on the general management of the Sicilia DOC Wines Consortium is an honour and a commitment that I welcome with great enthusiasm. I am happy to join a team that is already strong and cohesive, a team that I intend to work with passionately to contribute to the development of the territory, the wine sector in general and the future of the Sicilian sector in particular, focusing on shared growth strategies and innovation,”said Pugliesi.
Among his priorities is the relaunch of the Regional Wine Plan. This fundamentally important programmatic document has not been updated since the 1990s and will be at the centre of discussions in the coming months, with the aim of outlining a far-sighted vision for the future of the Sicilian wine sector.
