California is Missing Out on Massive Dodgers Betting and People Are Upset

  • By Admin

All of the negative California sports betting updates over the past year have been disappointing. For people in the state, they remain hopeful that legal betting could arrive by next fall, but it’s up in the air if things will move in the right direction or not. With the NFL season starting, folks would have loved the opportunity to place wagers. At the same time, California is missing out on massive Dodgers betting and people are upset they can put their money down on the MLB too.

The Major League Baseball postseason just kicked off and baseball supporters across the globe are loving what they’re seeing. It goes without saying, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to be a team that people will be watching moving forward. Outside of the Braves, the Dodgers hold the best MLB betting odds to capture the World Series title. With the hype around LA being so high, we are seeing plenty of Dodgers bets placed across the USA.

However, due to the laws in California, none of the hometown fans can legally place their wagers right now. With this, plenty of illegal activity is being recorded, which is a lose-lose for everyone involved. Those illegal bets won’t come to a close until the MLB season ends. The fact that the Dodgers hold such strong World Series betting odds makes this all the more difficult for people in The Golden State.

At the end of the day, betting in California is long overdue and the fact that things are taking so long is a huge bummer. The Dodgers could very well end up winning the World Series this year, but if people in California want to bet on the powerhouse, they either have to do so illegally or out of state. Come 2024 or 2025, the hope is that this will no longer be the case, but there’s no doubt that the right sports betting bill needs to be developed.

No 49ers bets for California is also a nightmare right now

We previously brought up NFL betting and there’s no question that no 49ers bets for California is also a nightmare right now for people in the state. Through four weeks of the season, arguably no team has helped boost their Super Bowl betting odds more than San Francisco. They’re a perfect 4-0, with things rolling on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Brock Purdy has been great and Christian McCaffrey is playing brilliantly.

This Sunday night, the 49ers will host the Dallas Cowboys in what’s sure to be a memorable game. We don’t have to tell you that people in California would love to bet on this game, but they can’t do so. This is a primetime showdown and it could be a preview of the NFC Championship Game. Dallas is 3-1 on the year and quarterback Dak Prescott is hoping to silence his haters with a big game. The storylines are endless here, as Prescott knows there will be a ton of pressure on him to get the job done.

“We’re so far past that, to be honest with you, but that’s obvious,” Prescott said when asked about the postseason loss to the 49ers last season while speaking to the media. “You just want to piss me off going into this week, and I appreciate that. I do, actually. I do. Appreciate that. Appreciate that.”

Prescott wants to make magic happen on Sunday against the 49ers, but that’s surely going to be easier said than done. The 49ers defense has been superb and no offense has had success in putting a lot of points on the board against them. The 49ers are favorites to post a strong win against Dallas this weekend, with a lot of bets coming in on them across the USA. Again, though, no one in California can do so due to the laws that are currently in place.

When will the sports betting laws in California change?

When will the sports betting laws in California change? This is a question that people have had on their minds for a while, but little to no context has been provided here for people to chew on. In November of 2022, multiple sports betting bills were on the ballot, but both failed. No sports betting bills will be present on this year’s edition, but the hope is that next November something will be put in place for people to vote in. If that doesn’t happen, then we could be looking at 2025.

Obviously, though, the longer California waits to get things done here, the more money they’re going to be losing in potential revenue. Whether it be the NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS, NHL or even college sports, California is packed with great teams and fantastic players. Because of this, people are chomping at the bit to be able to place wagers at some level. However, nothing is getting done and the patience is wearing thin. Could 2024 be the year things get done? We can only hope so.
