Bulls have no trade market for star guard Zach LaVine

Bulls have no trade market for star guard Zach LaVine

  • By Admin

Amid trade rumors swirling around, Chicago Bulls star guard Zach LaVine will miss one week due to right foot soreness.

The two-time All-AStar has struggled to find his footing in his first 18 games, averaging 21.0 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the floor and 33.6 percent from beyond the arc.

He’s coming off recording just two points in only 25 minutes in Tuesday’s blowout loss to the Boston Celtics. The Bulls are likely taking the precautionary route to avoid the injury from lingering further into the season.

Chicago continues to gauge the trade market for their star guard, but that hasn’t equated to much interest. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, much of the lack of movement has come due to his injury and massive contract.

“There is not a market for Zach LaVine right now in the NBA,” Wojnarowski said. “That’s not because Chicago has not tried to find it, and aren’t currently trying to find it. It’s a combination of a few reasons: LaVine’s contract — four more years at around a $45-46 million a year average. But his productivity, I think this is a player right now who, certainly he’s out right now with a foot injury. He’s been in and out of the lineup.”

LaVine is in the second year of his five-year, $215.1 million deal where he’s making roughly over $40 million this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers remain as a potential landing spot, but the team reportedly holds more interest in acquiring DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso.

Nonetheless, it remains a prominent unresolved situation to monitor closely moving forward.
