Last Saturday across this, our Acca and Over 2.5 columns, only one game let us down. That was in our Saturday BTTS Tips piece where Coventry failed to score at Bristol City. So close to what would’ve been quite some day.

We’re hopeful that we go one better this time around as we roll with a six-game acca, available to back at 13/1 as of the time of writing…

Leg 1 – Ipswich Town vs Plymouth Argyle @ 8/13

Portman Road has been one of the homes of goals so far in the 22/23 season and it hasn’t just been the home side scoring them. In eight games in all competitions, the visiting team have found the back of the net on no fewer than 13 occasions. That is a ratio of just over one-and-a-half a game.

Kieran McKenna’s side have been plundering them in left, right and centre as well in front of their own fans. They’ve scored 22 across the same period. Only twice has BTTS not been a winner in games at the ground so far this campaign.

When you consider the Pilgrims have scored in more than half of their games away from Home Park, this is a clear lean towards both sets of supporters cheering at least once on Saturday afternoon.

Leg 2 – Charlton Athletic vs Bolton Wanderers @ 4/7

Ian Evatt’s side have seemingly found their mojo having put together back-to-back wins and vaulting back up to fourth place in the league table. A tight 2-1 win at home on Saturday was followed up with a 2-4 win on the road at Wycombe on Tuesday night, meaning they are now four straight for BTTS to come in.

A trip down to the Valley this weekend awaits and Charlton have turned things around in south London following defeats in their first two games of the season at home. Five straight wins in front of their own fans has kept them from dropping towards the relegation zone.

Tough match to pick this if we were looking at the match result market but when it comes to the Both Teams to Score bet, only the 4-0 win over a hapless Reading side has been a loser for the BTTS Yes backers in games in SE7. Bolton score plenty and I like this leg a lot.

Leg 3 – Harrogate Town vs Crewe Alexandra @ 4/7

Any regular readers of our columns will know that Crewe are probably the most featured team as they can often be found in either the BTTS and/or Over 2.5 Goals pieces every Saturday. This is quite simply because they keep on playing in entertaining goal-filled games, particularly on the road.

Lee Ball’s side have now played eight games in League 2 on their travels and here are the results so far. 2-2, 1-0, 1-0, 1-4, 2-2, 3-3, 4-2, 2-4. So after a couple of early season blips, that is five straight where BTTS (and indeed Over 2.5) have been winners. Until they fall again, I’m going to keep riding the hot hand.

On the Harrogate side of the ledger, they are now five straight in all competitions where this bet has been a winner. No reason not to include it.

Leg 4 – Milton Keynes Dons vs Swindon Town @ 8/15

Swindon have been one of the entertainers of League 2 this season but in recent weeks, they’ve not been as great for Both Teams to Score backers. It is quite the surprise that they are only one of their past five for this statistic. Considering the amount of goals they score and concede (31 and 21 respectively in 14 games), that is a bit of a statistical quirk.

For me, that will even itself out sooner rather than later and the Robins will once more go on a heavy BTTS run. This weekend they travel to Milton Keynes to face a side at 73% for this bet (11 in 15), so this is the ideal time to think that the run will start.

When you throw in the fact the home side have a new manager, whose former team scored plenty, this feels like an ever better play.

Leg 5 – Gateshead vs AFC Fylde @ 4/7

Only top-of-the-table Chesterfield have scored more goals than Gateshead in the National League through 16 games. They have however had to endure a managerial departure after Mike Williamson left them to take over at the aforementioned MK Dons last week. In their first game without him, they battled to a 2-2 draw on the road at Rochdale.

The visitors languish joint-bottom of the table, ahead of Maidenhead thanks to having scored more times this season. Despite being right in the heart of the relegation battle, AFC Fylde have been great for BTTS backers, rocking a very sweet 76% record (13 of 17).

Pretty sure the home side get the three points but every chance the visitors score at least the once.

Leg 6 – Colwyn Bay vs Barry Town @ 8/15

Not often we write-up a game from the Cymru Premier Division but we have a bit of a scrap at the bottom-of-the-table that feels like a good play for BTTS punters.

Colwyn Bay have one of the best streaks of both scoring and conceding around, with their 6-2 Welsh Cup win last time out making it seven straight games where this bet has been a winner.

These two sides have already faced one another earlier in the campaign, playing out a 1-1 draw at the Jenner Park Stadium. Neither team score a great deal but they both struggle at the back. I like this leg because of the hot run the home side are on.

It should be noted that this game is a 14:30 kick-off rather than 15:00.
