After two close misses in our BTTS columns so far this season, we didn’t even go close on Saturday as three of our sixfold fell short. With a big night of action in the Football league and Non-League on Tuesday, we have a 11/1 fivefold exclusively from the National League for you to consider…
BTTS Tips – Tuesday 15 August, 2023
- Back BTTS Yes in AFC Fylde vs Kidderminster Harriers @ 8/11
- Back BTTS Yes in Dagenham & Redbridge vs Gateshead @ 8/13
- Back BTTS Yes in Dorking Wanderers vs Southend United @ 8/13
- Back BTTS Yes in Oxford City vs Chesterfield @ 4/6
- Back BTTS Yes in York City vs Altrincham @ 4/6
- Overall Odds – 11/1
My mantra heading into the season was to focus on the National League for this column as goals flowed last year in this division. Opening day saw eight of the 12 games have BTTS but last weekend it was only five where both teams found the back of the net. I’m not giving up however and have found the games most likely for this to come in on Tuesday evening.
AFC Fylde have scored twice in both games so far this campaign. They’ve also conceded at least twice in those games as well. Kidderminster have been much more miserly with fans at their two games having only seen the one goal in 180 minutes. So this selection is primarily based on the home sides’ start to the campaign. They can score. They can’t stop the opposition from scoring.
Gateshead have had the BTTS double so far in their 23/24 campaign and they were a strong pick throughout the second-half of last season as well. They travel to the Chigwell Construction Stadium where home fans weren’t able to celebrate a goal on Saturday having seen their side drop a 0-2 result to Southend. I don’t expect them to go two fans at home without scoring and I will always like Gateshead to find the back of the net.
Dorking were the stunner of Saturday as they didn’t score. A BTTS darling last season and they opened the season with a 4-3 thriller at Chesterfield. They don’t go two games on the spin without scoring very often. Southend though have scored six and have yet to pick the ball out of the back of their net. Three clean sheets in a row would be very surprising so I like the bet here.
Chesterfield have scored eight goals in two games. That is quite the early season performance and added to that, they’ve conceded five. Oxford have lost both their games so far including a 5-2 reversal at Aldershot. A 0-1 defeat at home to Rochdale on Saturday was a bit more subdued but you can’t not put Chesterfield in based on what we’ve seen so far.
Finally Altrincham were another of my go to plays in the second-half of the 22/23 season and BTTS has been a winner two out of two so far this campaign. This has the feeling of a low-scoring draw as I’m not expecting the home side to be prolific but until shown otherwise, the other Phil Parkinson’s side will continue to be part of this column.
