Bristol City vs Middlesbrough Prediction: Greenwood the party-pooper at Ashton Gate
10th meets 11th in the Championship on Saturday afternoon (15:00), as Bristol City host Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate.
After an awful start to the season, the visitors have turned things around in spectacular fashion by winning seven of their last nine league games.
The Robins, meanwhile, are still adjusting to life after Nigel Pearson, with Liam Manning drawing 0-0 with QPR in his first game as head coach last time out.
Bristol City vs Middlesbrough Betting Tips:
Team News
Andy King, Nakhi Wells, Haydon Roberts and Joe Williams were among those to miss Manning’s first game in charge of City, and the quartet look likely to miss out again this weekend through injury.
Boro have injury issues themselves to contend with, as Riley McGree, Lewis O’Brien and Marcus Forss are all still on the treatment table, while vice-captain Darragh Lenihan was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier this week.
Match Odds
Bristol City are 12/5 to record the first win of the Liam Manning era on Saturday, with the draw available at the same price. The visitors come into this one as 19/20 favourites.
Both teams to score is priced at 8/11, and it’s 12/1 for a repeat of the 2-2 scoreline seen at Ashton Gate last season.
Middlesbrough to win and both teams to score @ 11/4
Backing against a manager making his home debut is always tough, but the momentum Boro have built up makes it hard to pick anything but an away win here.
A 2-0 reverse in Stoke is their only defeat since September 16th, and three draws in 16 games doesn’t exactly scream out stalemate.
City have only drawn four times themselves, and while they will fancy their chances of scoring against a side with just one clean sheet away from home this season, Boro’s firepower should prove too much on Saturday.
Both teams to score has won in seven of Boro’s eight away games, and two of their three victories on the road have seen BTTS.
Sam Greenwood to score @ 13/5
The Leeds United loanee is quickly making himself a favourite with the Boro faithful after scoring four goals in his last six, with three of those being the first goal of the game. It’s 7/1 for the 21-year-old to be first on the scoresheet again if you’re feeling a bit braver.
Greenwood has a penchant for the spectacular, and can often be found taking set-pieces for his side which adds an extra string to his bow.
There are goals throughout this Boro side, but Greenwood’s place in the starting XI looks the most secure at the moment, and with three of his goals coming away from home, he’s proven to travel well.
