Bournemouth vs Newcastle Prediction: Cherries to claim first victory
Newcastle got up and running against Southampton last weekend and now Eddie Howe takes his team to visit his former club Bournemouth on Sunday (14:00, live on Sky Sports) in search of another three points.
Read on for my Bournemouth vs Newcastle predictions, plus the latest odds and team news.
Bournemouth vs Newcastle Predictions
Bournemouth are priced up at 2/1 for the home victory, with Newcastle 5/4 favourites, despite their poor away record last season, while the draw is on offer at 11/4.
Over 2.5 goals is installed at 8/15, while under that total can be backed at 11/8. Both teams to score is favoured at 1/2, with at least one clean sheet priced at 6/4.
Alexander Isak leads the anytime goalscorer market at 23/20 ahead of Callum Wilson at 13/10, with new signing Evanilson the shortest priced home player 7/4.
Team News
The Cherries signed Evanilson to replace Dominic Solanke but he may start from the bench this weekend. Enes Unal, Tyler Adams and David Brooks have all been ruled out for the hosts.
Newcastle’s back four will have a fresh look. Schar is suspended while Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are both injured, leaving the Magpies with Emil Krafth and Dan Burn as their starting centre-halves.
Former Chelsea academy graduates Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento will start at full-back.
Bournemouth to win @ 2/1
Bournemouth’s preparations for their second season under Andoni Iraola were dealt a blow with Dominic Solanke departing for Tottenham. Their point at Forest last weekend was a solid one, but the Cherries can build on that.
They can take advantage of Newcastle’s defensive problems, especially if the Magpies’ terrible away record from last season doesn’t pick up. Newcastle lost 11 of their 19 away games last season, including nine defeats to the top 12 sides in the league.
They were beaten 2-0 at the Vitality and this clash pits them against a Cherries side that were incredibly consistent last term. Iraola’s side struggled against the league’s top teams but outside of that they were competitive and should prove tricky to stop on their own patch this term.
Outside of Solanke’s departure they look settled, so back them to build on a season which brought seven home victories. Take Bournemouth for the win at a good price, while the hosts can be backed for a 2-1 victory at 9/1.

Justin Kluivert to score anytime @ 12/5
While Bournemouth have their Solanke replacement in the door, they will need goals from midfield until Evanilson gets up to speed with the Premier League.
Dutchman Kluivert can play a role in that regard, especially given his fine record at the Vitality Stadium. The midfielder scored seven times last term, with five of those coming at home. He also finished the campaign on a bright note, scoring in three of their final four matches at the Vitality.
Kluivert has always shown plenty of promise but is now settled under a progressive coach, and this could be a breakout year for him. He has found a role just off the front man in Bournemouth’s 4-2-3-1 system and having shown his scoring touch last term, he’s a good option to score anytime.
