Blackburn Rovers host Oxford United in the Championship on Saturday (15:00) looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Rovers picked up an impressive draw against Norwich City last week, but will be hoping for another three points at Ewood Park.

Oxford tasted defeat at Coventry City last time out, so they will be looking for better fortune on the road here. Read on for my Blackburn vs Oxford prediction, featuring match odds and team news.

Team News

After taking four points from the first two matches, Blackburn boss John Eustace may not want to make too many changes to his side for this clash, seeing as they have started the season well.

The attacking quartet of Makhtar Gueye, Tyrhys Dolan, Ryan Hedges and Joe Rankin-Costello doesn’t look like it will be disrupted for the visit of Oxford on Saturday.

Mark Harris already has two goals to his name in the Championship this term for Oxford, and he is likely to play a huge part for the U’s once again. His form looks set to keep Spurs loanee Dane Scarlett on the bench, who will have to bide his time to become a starter in Des Buckingham’s team.

Blackburn and both teams to score @ 23/10

Rovers’s start to the season has not been that of a team tipped to go down. They’re currently fourth in the table and have looked sharp in the first two weeks of the campaign.

As a Birmingham fan who has seen Eustace’s work up close, I had a feeling that they could improve with a pre-season under him, but that doesn’t mean that they still don’t have a long way to go to ensure they survive this year.

His attacking players have been impressive and I think they will play a huge role again in front of the home crowd. Oxford will be disappointed with the manner of their 3-2 defeat to Coventry last time out, but it is on the road where I think they will find life in the Championship most difficult.

I do think they will score, though, because Harris is in good form and Rovers have already conceded four goals in two matches.

Blackburn and both teams to score at 23/10 Makhtar Gueye anytime goalscorer @ 8/5

Harris may seem like the most logical choice for backing a goalscorer in this clash, but I have opted for Blackburn’s Gueye. The summer signing has impressed me in his two league appearances so far and he already has an assist to his name.

As a striker, however, he will be more interested in scoring goals, and another game at Ewood Park gives him the chance to truly announce himself to the supporters. Oxford leaked in three goals last week, which would suggest they are vulnerable when playing away from home, so this might be the perfect game for him to net his first goal in Blackburn colours.
