Can you get any better than a Magic Wand?? This powerful vibrator’s been a superstar since the 1960s for stronger, faster clitoral orgasms. The best magic wands are massagers that shake ur stuff – they give you clit stimulation strength and all-over pelvic quaking.
Over the last 6 years, I’ve tested 44 different wand vibrators!!! I adore girthy vibration stimulation – the kind that O.G. Magic Wands are fan-favorited for.
But I’ve discovered the Hitachi Magic Wand isn’t the only wand vibrator you should consider today: Several modern wand toys deliver waterproofness and more colors. These new magic wands can be lighter-weight and easier to handle during sex, too.
Best Wand Vibrators Recap: Magic Wands vs. the World
As I’ve spent years growing my mondo wand collection, I’ve realized which qualities are actually important, versus which “features” are marketing bullsh*t: Like: “Flexible neck” is listed as a sales point. My reaction: You think that’s a *good* thing? Do these marketing people even use wand vibrators???
After ruling out 85% of all the wand vibrators that’ve entered my home, I’ve selected the following as my top 2024 best magic wand vibrators (plus one hands-free accessory!). Only wand toys with a non-staining, body-safe silicone head are allowed to grace my presence : Nonporous silicone is just the most basic upgrade from the Original Magic Wand.1
- The OG, classic wands: Magic Wand Rechargeable (cordless) & Magic Wand Plus (the most power, corded). The gold standard of wand vibrators, née “the Hitachi.” Padded heads for comfort + good pressure. Not waterproof.
- Best rumbly speed range + smaller size: PalmPower Recharge. Exceptional speed range from low-&-rumbly to damn strong for its size. Custom intensity control. Waterproof. Cordless.
- Easiest vibrator handle to hold: Viben Sultry. Seriously slim handle, lighter, the best to grip. Starts very rumbly; decent range. Waterproof.
- Non-flexible neck = the best pressure: Maia Nala. Fab teal-turquoise color. Strong, zingy, not rumbly. Gives the most pressure against your clit. Waterproof.
- Hands-free wand harness: The Pivot harness (pic below) is so you do not have to manage a big magic wand’s 13-inch length: you strap it to your thigh, adjust it, and the wand head remains wedged against your clit. Will fit all vibrators 5-inches or longer.
- Best rubbing-off-on-it massage head: Oooh the squish in Maia Shroomie: a big soft top to grind against your clit. Medium-strong, not squirtingstrong vibration. A perennial favorite for me cuz I love wide fleshy-soft heads. Waterproof.
- Teeniest strong wand vibrator: Petite Wand. Basically, it’s the strongest kick-ass bullet vibrator, but with a rounded silicone head—not pointy! Water-resistant. Intensely powerful for its smol size, beats Magic Wand Micro by a mile.
- Intense app controlled / long-distance play: Lovense Domi 2. Strongest app-controlled vibrator, anywhere. Stable Bluetooth connection. Lacks low speeds. Rattles after a few years. Water-resistant.
Pro tip: Adding a G-squeeze pussy plug into wand play is superb if you like vaginal stimulation at all. A wand vibrator clitorally + the soft plug inside are a beyond-good combo.
Best Magic Wand Vibrators Power Chart
This table compares power and vibration range versus price: It’ll be most helpful if you’re a maximum power fan, you love your clitoral vibration strong! For folks like me who enjoy moderately high power, then ease of use + comfort are equally important. *The Bang-for-your-Buck rating averages the wand vibrator’s top power + speed range / max. possible values, then scales for higher vs. lower prices. (So if a wand toy is high-priced, it’s gotta be really strong to get a high score.) It does not comprise convenience features like: waterproofness, weight or length, ease-of-grip, or plug-in vs. cordless.
† “Speed range” means how different the vibrator’s lowest intensity feels versus its highest intensity. Often I state this as “from 7.0 to 9.25 / 10 intensity (high to low),” but here I’ll subtract the low number from the high number—to get a single figure for how much intensity range a particular vibrator motor can offer you.
More details about each rockin’ strong or rumbly vibrating massage wand, and my experience with how each wand vibrator holds up over time:
Vibratex / Hitachi Magic Wands
Magic Wand Pros: The original orgasmic phenomen: Hitachi legacy. Power-driven (=Rechargeable & Plus); Mini and Micro are less-strong. Very unlikely to break, even if you grind on their heads. Padded.
Cons: Only in white&blue; not waterproof or splashproof.
Price: $129.95 for MW Rechargeable (cordless); or $79.95 for MW Plus (must be plugged in)
The original. A “body massager” that smart women perverted, the Hitachi wand became a feminist icon for damn good reason: “the mother of all vibrators.” This thing is strong, and very likely to help 90% of testers reach clitoral climax quickly.
The Magic Wands by Vibratex may make you smile – or gasp!!! The Rechargeable and the Plus wands will quake ‘n’ shake your pelvic floor: From pubic mound to butt cheeks, sending waves of vibration through the clitoris & labia.
The Magic Wand Rechargeable stands out for its 4-speed range and rumbly depth. However, the permanently corded Plus is stronger – stronger than I personally need (MWR forever!), but some like it potent . Quick recap table of Magic Wand stats by model, here. All 3 non-Micro Magic Wands possess a rumbly rotating feel: you can really sense the RPM (rotations per minute) as the vibration rolls inside the massage-head.
The padded head is 100% exclusive to these best Vibratex Magic Wands.2 It’s safe silicone, encompassing foam. This means: Magic Wand heads are gentler to grind on.
Literally millions of Magic Wand fans are satisfied by that smooth-yet-compressable feel—yet Magic Wand vibrators:
- are not waterproof, not at all:
- continue to have only the 1 color;
- are not soft as in squishy, like body-safe silicone can be;
- are pretty damn big;
…so sometimes, I turn elsewhere when shooting for my best wand vibrator session:
PalmPower Recharge Wand
PalmPower Recharge Pros: Absolutely the best speed range, rumbly, and it rocks even though it’s smaller. Easy to travel with. Simpler to hold & fit into sex with a partner.
Cons: Removable cap requires 30 seconds more cleaning. Not for grinding on, nor extra broad clitoral stimulation. 6-mo. warranty.
Price: $74.88 right now (Check Price)
PalmPower Recharge is the easiest wand vibrator to travel with, and a serious favorite for when I want more oooomph partway through sex – but don’t want a long handle interfering between me and my guy.
It’s definitely the best “bang for your buck” value: super-strong for its price & its compact size. It’s got fantastic adjustable range between the low & high speeds, and you get to fine-tune the vibration via Incremental Control! (The same system found in my all-time fave G-spot vibrator!!!)
The PalmPower Recharge wand is fully waterproof, unlike its closest competitor for “power-per-size”: the Lovense Domi bluetooth magic wand. See how much smaller the PalmPower is:
Only downside: the PalmPower R’s silicone head cap creates a small seam. The problem is then: rubbing the PalmPower head against my vulva is less smooth. My two PalmPower Recharges have held up great (I got a new one when the blue color came out!!), but I don’t recommend them for folks who apply all the pressure onto their wand massager heads – the necks will bend too much, causing stress and potential damage to the vibrator wiring over time.
Maia Nala Wand
Nala wand Pros: Inflexible neck = better pressure. Turquoise! 40% lighter-weight vs. Magic Wand R. Aggressively strong. Waterproof.
Cons: Slightly louder vs. Magic Wand. 38-minute battery life; plug&play has a 30-minute limit.
Price: $85.99 Here
Hello, Nala!!! She’s a temptress: urging me to spend too long in the shower with her waterproof body and very strong power! Versus the bestest Magic Wand, the Nala vibrator can get wetter; plus I prefer its pretty turquoise color.
But the Maia Nala vibrators’s most unique feature? The neck: it’s so not flexible. If you like firm pressure – so the wand head is not bending away from your body as you try to rub on it – this is the wand for you. Less flex vs. every other wand in my collection.
Nala’s vibration is forceful, biting, not rumbly. It is either rechargeable or plug-in wall powered (via 2 different cables, included); but you have to take a 15-minute break between the 38-minute rechargeable battery life and the 30-minute “Plug & Play” wall power.
Petite Wand Vibrator
Petite Wand Pros: The most kick-ass mini-wand, ever. Like a bullet vibrator on speed. Smooth silicone head. Jazzy vibration. Easy to grip.
Cons: Only 3 speeds. 6-month warranty.
Price: $47.99 Here
The Petite Wand is a nifty middle ground: small as a “bullet” mini-vibrator, but stronger as a wand should be. It’s zingy, with vibration that reminds me of the Magic Wand Mini – and it’s so much more potent versus the Magic Wand Micro. The Petite Wand has a more stable neck than the latter too, for good pressure.
This is the most aggressive small vibrator I’ve ever owned that’s under $50. The smooth head is silky silicone, which gives neither-broad-nor-pinpoint clitoral stimulation: again, a middle road. The You2Toys/Orion Petite Wand will destroy the We-Vibe Tango in a sheer power competition!
Maia Shroomie – Soft Silicone, Wide Cap
Shroomie Pros: OMG OMG the rub-it-off-er. Squishy softer silicone head. Still wide like a big wand, but short stalk-handle. Grip it and massage your stuff. Under-$45.
Cons: Less powerful versus full-size Magic Wand vibrators. Limited speed range.
Price: $44.99 Here.
The Shroomie mushroom vibrator’s changed everything about how I enjoy broad clitoral stimulation. It’s a revelation, since I’ve always like stroking softer things over my clit (rubbing it) – and that’s possible with Magic Wand Rechargeable, but not easy.
This is simpler stroking. Grip the lil white stalk, and I can massage the Maia Shroomie broad cap fast over my clit and labia. Hell yeah!!! The slight friction, the motion, makes me need less vibration power than if I was holding a normal wand stationary over my clitoris.
The Shroomie’s second speed is often enough to fully satisfy me. It’s convenience, when I want something big & fleshy but vibrating (not a dildo!) to mash into my stuff. My clit’s in . I ordered a second Shroomie so I’d have a backup, just in case!!!
Viben Sultry & Obsession
Viben wand Pros: Great strong motors; one has the easiest full-size handle ever, one is more powerful.
Cons: Most likely to die before 1 year, but will be replaced under warranty (the first time).
Price: $89.99 for Sultry (slimmer handle, more adjustable speeds); or $89.99 for Obsession (strongest, 3 steady speeds)
The Viben Sultry’s waterproofness & easier grip have made it edge out the Magic Wand R. in my sexy-time rotation, often. Sultry has 8 intensity levels, and it gets pretty strong: 8.5/10 = 4.25/5. The handle is thinner, and contoured in this gorgeous way – it’s soooo nice to wrap my hand around the hourglass shape.
I need to pick up a new one. My Sultrys have lasted me 11 months and 10 months; Viben provides a 1-year warranty from date of purchase, and will ship a replacement within that first year.
Its sibling is the Viben Obsession. The name fits, since there’s something manic about the vibration. It’s like, climbing up the walls level strong at first: beats the Magic Wand Rechargeable on high. One time I was using it during sex with a new partner – Do not do this *if* you’re sensitive. I honestly was screaming so hard, it took me several minutes to gasp out: “Too strong!!!” (Yo, you need a safe word with this vibrator.)
By 9 months in, the Obsession wand will probably not be as strong. Mine is like low-level humming now, so I’m left with only vivid memories of when it kicked ass.
PalmPower Extreme
PalmPower Extreme Pros: Excellent motor: close to MW Rechargeable, but with adjustable intensity. Easy-to-hold handle. Angle facilitates grip when sitting down, or for clit stimulation in flat doggy style.
Cons: Don’t push into the head too hard too often, you’ll break it.
Price: $105 Here
The PalmPower Extreme is a class-act great vibrator.* I like it most for letting it sit, running inside my shorts: where the unique angled head lets its handle stick up comfortably in front of my belly. It’s actually ergonomic.
*As long as you don’t press too hard on it. If you bend the neck hard by rocking into it, you will break it. This hasn’t happened to me, but I hear about it from readers.
PalmPower Extreme is so close to Magic Wand Rechargeable power-wise. Except the PalmPower gives you more vibration choices, via Incremental Speed Control.
PalmPower Extreme’s head is slightly smaller vs. Magic Wand: 2 inches for the Extreme, vs. 2.4 inches for Magic Wands R. and +. It’s an exceptional wand vibrator, as long as you treat it gently.
Fun Factory Vim
Vim Wand Pros: Super low-pitched (rumbly) vibration resonance. Adjustable speed.
Cons: Fine-line texture is irritating to clits that don’t like sharp edges. Really bendable neck = harder to apply pressure. You’ll break it if you bend it much.
Price: $169.00
Deeply rumbly, is the Fun Factory Vim. It’s a Grade A motor, with 5 speeds: and you can press & hold down to minutely increase intensity – remarkably reminiscent of the Incremental Speed Control that only the PalmPower wands’ maker BMS Factory offered before Vim’s release.
I’d like this wand A LOT if its head textures weren’t annoyingly draggy. Fine little lines that irritate my clit and labia, too sharp, even with lube. The neck is also very flexible, so it’s no suprise I’ve heard from folks about so many more “my Vim broke” complaints than any other Fun Factory toy previously.
Lovense Domi 2 vs. Magic Wand
Domi wand Pros: Lovense app. Srsly, this is *the* distinctive feature: the app stays connected and runs smoothly. It’s strong for its size.
Cons: Gets rattly over time. Only in black, wtf. Shows spots.
Price: $99.00 @ Lovense (wait to buy if it’s going for $109, since it always comes back to $99 soon).
A Bluetooth magic wand? Maybe. The Lovense Domi has more the feel of the OG 2-speed Hitachi, except 30% less-strong. That’s still forceful.
The Lovense app continues to have the best Bluetooth connection. Lovense vibrators maintain their connection with your phone in a way that makes me wonder why it is that other vibrator manufacturers can’t access the same Bluetooth APIs. (We-Vibe’s app is stinky by comparison, for one.)
I liked the original Lovense Domi wand. Then, all Lovense’s vibrator “updates” after 2019 made the toys weaker: like Lovense Lush 2 had a better motor than Lush 3. Unfortunately, Domi 2 was slightly more rattly to start, and now after a couple years it’s super-loud. Worst, Domi 2 lost the deep & low setting I really liked in Domi 1 – which you can’t even access via the app now.
Oh well. It’s quite strong, mid-sized, and if you’re in an LDR and want bangin’ clit control, you might love it.
Other Wand Vibrators, Power Summary
Other magic wands that offer good, body-safe power from reputable makers—but that have gotten consigned to my “unloved vibrators” piles b/c their motors and features aren’t right for me:
- Magic Wand Mini (8.0/10 for power; $75.95). Good if you like the Magic Wand Rechargeable on speed #2 or 3, but you want it in a smaller size—truly easier to fit into missionary, for example. The Mini Magic Wand weighs 54% less! Padded head. 3 speeds only. Cordless; not water-resistant.
- Doxy Die Cast and Doxy Original corded power wands. Some people swear by their Doxy wands. I’m not one of them myself; the Doxy’s vibrating is cutting rather than enjoyable IMO. I will agree the Doxy Die Cast is the strongest handheld vibrator money can buy. It is a fair chunka change for the weighted Die Cast now ($230 USD; for 9.8/10 power). It’s nice that it’s forged in the UK (fair labor), but aluminum3 is a cheap-ass metal. The Original Doxy wand now has a silicone head and is $100 less than the Die Cast full-size, but is more in line with the top speed of the Magic Wand Plus – which you could pay $60 less for. Doxy wands break 12× more often vs. Magic Wand vibrators.
- Femme Funn Ultra Wand (9.0/10 power; $73.99). Zesty half-sized wand that kicks when you turn on the “boost” button. 3 steady speeds, none of them low & rumbly. Pros: Fully silicone, waterproof, and cordless. Con: Probably will die before 1 year in. Pretty flexible neck.
- Doxy Number 3 (9.25/10 power; $179.99). Neither as heavy () nor as strong () as the full-sized Doxy wands. Permanently corded. Smaller, but not light-weight like PalmPower Recharge. Con: Doxy No. 3 heads have a high fail rate (they come unscrewed, and can’t be screwed back on) and are a *chore* to clean. Avoid the “Doxy Die Cast 3R massager” (aka Doxy 3R), which is a big given its more-limited speed range yet high price.
- Mini Halo by Shibari/Voodoo Toys (8.25/10 power, $49.99): The Shibari Mini is known for having lots of power in a small size, for a cheaper price. Widely available. Not bad, will get the job done; but neither powerful-powerful nor rumbly.
- Magic Wand Micro (6.5/10 power, $64.95): Itty-bitty Hitachi, I call it: the Micro Magic Wand is like a bullet vibrator, except with a compressable head. Much less powerful. Biggest con: Very flexible neck = less pressure. Vs. other Magic Wands, the Magic Wand Micro is much harder to reach orgasm with.
- Lelo Smart Wand 2 Large (9.3/10 power, $199.99). Waterproof, rechargeable luxury vibes. Rumbly on the lower end of the speed range. Not the strongest, but not bad vibration. The biggest downside? Lelo’s significant brand name markup. Cha-ching! The performance doesn’t match the pricetag. Avoid Smart Wand medium, which gets the most negative reviews.
- O-Wand (9.25/10, $199): Bulky; and again, its pricetag is too high for its medium-high vibration power. O-Wand is long, top-heavy, and seriously unwieldy. The manufacturer claims it’s “the world’s most powerful rechargeable wand…” GTFO.
- Lovehoney Wands: The full-sized ones have some strength (but why get a knock-off when u can get a real Vibratex/Hitachi Magic Wand for the same price???). The Deluxe Rechargeable Mini Massage Wands come in cuter colors now. The $35 pricetag one isn’t a bad deal, nor a fantastic one either.
- We-Vibe Wand (9.0/10 power; not available, but originally $189): Now waiting for We-Vibe Wand version 2 to be released! The toggle switch adjustable speed on the original was nice. Slightly awkward handle design. Waterproof. But the silicone on the head peeled away from the core below.
- Dame Com (7.5/10 power, $119). Rumbly. Stronger than other Dame vibrators, but laughable if you like the power of Magic Wand Rechargeable. Full silicone coat is nice. Waterproof. Ergonomic angle is easy for solo use. Mine died after about 10 months, so possibly not the most durable.
How-To Use a Wand Vibrator
Magic Wand handles are meant to be held: Vibratex handles flow from thicker to thinner at the end – so if you’ve got small fingers like me, you can grip closer to the end, as the Magic wand sticks straight up in the air.
You can also hold a wand vibrator’s handle farther up, and use it extended in front of your belly as you kneel / lean forward. This is the position for magic wand usage during doggy-style sex.
Of all sex positions: spooning is the very easiest for magic wand fit.
And smaller, lighter wands are the easiest magic wand massager to grip during sex. This is why I rec’ the PalmPower Recharge highly: less interference. Or the new Petite Wand!
But the laziest position of all goes to:
Best Magic Wand Positioning Tools
Lying your butt back in bed, pillow behind your head, as any magic wand’s bound to your leg.
I’m finding the Pivot Forced-O strap just great here. The most tension builds when I’m crossing one leg over the other, clenching my thighs around it.
Adding in some ankle cuffs (even when I’m by myself) feels super hot. But you can add more restraints and a partner for full-on BDSM play with a Magic Wand vibrator too!!! And, here are other wand accessories for clit grinding, listed.
Care & Cleaning the Best Wand Vibrators: Magic Wand vs. Waterproof Wands
Have you noticed yet: The meh answer to “Is the Hitachi Magic Wand waterproof?”, is a hard NO. Not waterproof, not splashproof / water-resistant. No IPX rating at all, in fact. The official recommendation for cleaning a Vibratex Magic Wand head is to wipe it down with a damp cloth.
I’ve run a light stream of water (interspersing with soap) over the Magic Wands’ silicone heads over the years, and mine are still kickin’ it as strong as the day I got ’em: Yet, I need to pay more attention to carefully washing them (to avoid dousing with water), and they’re definitely not shower-friendly.
A wateproof submersible or water-resistant rating means easier cleaning without fear:
You just scrub soap over a wand vibrator’s head, mixing in some water to create a good lather. All soaps (and detergents) are antibacterial because they surround and trap bacteria and other microorganisms, lifting them off the silicone’s surface, to be washed away in water.
You can store all body-safe wand vibrators together in a single drawer. Avoid mixing silicone vibrators with super-soft silicone dildos, including dual-density silicone; or super-soft vaginal plugs. The two forms of silicone won’t degrade each other, but the softer density can delaminate the silicone coat over a vibrator’s underlying structure (creating a bubble).
If you’re feeling dry and want to apply lubricant to your wand: that’s great, no problem. Choose a body-safe water-based lube or hybrid lubricant: my go-to personal lubricants are Sliquid H2O or Silk, which are less destructive to sensitive tissue vs. most lubricants.
