Best Card Processing Companies of 2023
Monica Eaton of Chargebacks911 was asked to share her expertise in the payments and credit space as part of a new feature for USA Today.
USA Today is an American daily middle-market newspaper and news broadcasting company. Founded by Al Neuharth on September 15, 1982, USA Today operates from Gannett’s corporate headquarters in Tysons, Virginia. Its newspaper is printed at 37 sites across the United States and at five additional sites internationally.
There are dozens of options on the market for merchants hoping to find a processor. They can vary in many ways, like fee structures and restrictions as well as chargeback volumes.
“As a rule of thumb, eCommerce transactions are 50 times more likely to turn into a chargeback than those where the consumer was physically present,” Monica explains. Thus, merchants in the card-not-present space may need more leeway and support as regards payment disputes.
“If your business has the majority of its transaction volume from online sales – and especially if your company operates in an industry that is more prone to chargebacks – saving money on processing fees may not be worth the higher rate of disputes,” Monica notes.
