The Belgian Grand Prix 2024 certainly has a lot to live up to after we were treated to a classic in Hungary last weekend. McLaren secured a remarkable one-two, with Oscar Piastri winning his first Formula One race after Lando Norris eventually, and stubbornly, followed team orders to let him past.

It was a brilliant performance from the British manufacturer, while they debate about Max Verstappen’s late night activities (get your mind out the gutter), rages on after he could only finish fifth. Spa is the longest track on the F1 circuit and always offers drama, so below you can find my Belgian Grand Prix predictions.

Belgian Grand Prix 2024 Betting Tips

  • Lando Norris to win the Belgian Grand Prix @ 11/10
  • Lewis Hamilton to finish top three @ 13/8

Lando Norris to win the Belgian Grand Prix @ 11/10

It feels like there has been a real change in momentum over the last month or so. McLaren were looking good at the start of the season, but Verstappen’s dominance was still obvious as he gave himself a big early lead in the Drivers’ Championship. However, after two years off the pace, it appears that the other teams have finally caught up with Red Bull.

McLaren’s progress has been staggering and there is now an argument to be made that they have the quickest car on the circuit. Even if Verstappen hadn’t collided with Lewis Hamilton in the final stages in Budapest, there was still a decent gap between the two McLarens and the Red Bull – while the less said about Sergio Perez the better at this point in time.

Formula One Odds

The two vs one situation that seems to be emerging at the top of the order is certainly going to play into Zak Brown’s hands, and even though Mercedes are contenders, I think McLaren are the superior team right now. We will start to have a conversation about the Constructors’ Championship at some point, but for now we can back McLaren to win yet another race.

I’m aware of getting too drawn into the excitement around the recent one-two, but when we zoom out their pace over the past two months has been fantastic. As for picking a race winner, Lando Norris remains McLaren’s number one driver, and he is surely going to be rewarded by the team for making way for Piastri.

The messages over the radio appeared to suggest his ‘generosity’ would be repaid, so don’t be surprised to see him get the race win here.

Lewis Hamilton to finish top three @ 13/8

Lewis appears to have found his spark again. The seven-time world champion may be leaving Mercedes at the end of the season but he is going out with a bang. Toto Wolff’s team have also found some pace this season and are close to McLaren. They may even be ahead of Red Bull right now, and are certainly ahead of Ferrari, which makes podium appearances a more frequent event for Hamilton and his teammate George Russell.

In fact, in Hungary, Hamilton registered the 200th podium finish of his career, a simply staggering achievement that nobody else can come close to. In my opinion, he is the greatest F1 driver of all time, and he seems to be enjoying himself far more now that the car is competitive once again.

Belgian Grand Prix Odds

He’s finished in the top four for each of the last five races, and his consistency is remarkable. He’s currently sixth in the Drivers’ standings, but is above Sergio Perez and Russell, while I believe he has the pace and form to break into the top three once again at Spa.
