Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 3 Easter Eggs & Breakdown

At first everything seems normal on Tantiss– Emerie comes to get Omega for her daily chores, Crosshair and the others are being worked to death. But Troopers are everywhere due to an unexpected guest arriving. Hemlock has Emerie analyze the blood samples instead of Nala Se because of this visit.

Since Nala Se won’t be able to destroy the sample, she warns Omega that if they find out what is in her blood she will be in danger. Omega needs to escape and she can use Nala Se’s data pad from the lab to do it. These experiments are for Project… but she is cut off before she can say the full name.

Omega grabs the data pad and runs as the centrifuge that contains her blood sample rotates slowly

The special guest arrives– it’s Emperor Palpatine (voiced by Ian McDiarmid) flanked by his Praetorian Guard

As Hemlock leads him to the Vault, it is finally confirmed the name of these experiments- Project Necromancer. It was first mentioned in The Mandalorian Chapter 23 The Spies. However, it is clear here that Project Necromancer has been part of the Emperor’s plans well before the events that led to his death in the original trilogy.

John Williams’ Star Wars score can be heard while the Emperor is on Tantiss.

Omega goes to the cells to release Crosshair. All the shuttles are grounded except the Emperor’s, that’s not going to be the easiest to steal. Fortunately, she remembers that there was a crashed shuttle somewhere outside with comms they could use to call for Hunter and Wrecker.

The only way out of the facility is through the Lurca Hound cages. Batcher’s is still empty since Omega set her free. They can use the outside tunnel connected to the cages to flee. Emerie catches them in the act, but Crosshair stuns her so they can escape.

Meanwhile, as he is leaving, Emperor Palpatine makes it clear he wants Tantiss to remain hidden. Hemlock wants to be promoted to minister of the imperial science corps. Palps response is “all in due time.”

Also called the Imperial Science Bureau, this division of the Siths was dedicated to research and development of new tech. It was first mentioned in Star Wars Insider and made appearances in Star Wars The Old Republic

After he is gone, Hemlock learns that  Crosshair and Omega are missing. He sends out the other Lurca Hounds to kill them as well as a Recovery Team of troopers.

As they are running towards the downed ship, they are cornered by a Dryax. This creature is massive and looks like a furry, lizard-like animal. The Lurca Hounds attack it instead of them so they manage to make it to the ship, but the comms are dead.

Crosshair asks if she knows Plan 72. Omega replies that Tech made her memorize all the plans. The plan involves ambushing the Troopers and taking over their ship. Crosshair’s hand is still shaking, making him miss some of his shots. The freed Lurca Hound, Batcher, runs in to save Omega at the last moment allowing her to get on the ship.

The three escape but Hemlock sends ships to chase them. However, back in the lab, Emerie sees the machine light up, showing that Omega’s blood is what they have been searching for. She tells Hemlock what she found–Omega’s sample supports M-Count transfer without degradation. Hemlock calls off the pursuit for now because he needs the girl alive if he wants to please the Emperor.
