New York Yankees season so far
As usual the Yankees have been one of the standout teams in the MLB so far this season, and their record stands out as one of the best across the league.
They started off the campaign with five wins a row over the Houston Astros and Arizona Diamondbacks, before losses in two of their next three against Arizona and the Toronto Blue Jays. They bounced back with a fantastic run of six wins in their next seven to establish themselves as favorites for the division once again, before they then fell to three losses in a row. They ended the month by going 7-6 in their next 13, finishing the month with a record of 19-12.
May was a spectacular month for New York however, as they won an incredible 75% of their games, for a record of 21-7. They opened with a win and defeat to the Baltimore Orioles, before five wins in a row against the Detroit Tigers and Astros. They lost two of their next three following that, but responded with seven victories in a row including three-peats over the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox They ended the month with another winning run of seven in nine.
June started very well for them as they opened the month with nine wins in 11, although they suffered back-to-back losses to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle of that. However, they managed just five wins in the rest of the month and went on two, three and four-game losing streaks to end the month with an overall record of 54-32.
July was poor as they lost more games than they won, ending the month with an 11-13 record, including seven defeats in their opening nine games. They bounced back after the All-Star break however, to end the month with five straight wins. So far in August they have claimed two wins over the Blue Jays, and followed that up with wins over the Angels in recent days to take their overall record to an impressive 68-47.
Los Angeles Angels season so far
Los Angeles have had a really poor season so far and they will not be looking forward to this run of games over the coming days and weeks.
They started their season with back-to-back defeats to the Baltimore Orioles before four wins on the bounce looked to get fans excited about the upcoming season. However, that was followed up by a shocking run of just seven wins in their next 24 games to see them end April with a poor record of 11-19.
In May things didn’t get much better for Los Angeles, starting off with four defeats in five. Their only victory came in a brilliant 6-0 performance against the Cleveland Guardians. After that, they claimed consecutive wins over the Pittsburgh Pirates, before once again falling to a run of five defeats in six. The Angels got some form back with six wins in their next nine, beating the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros twice each, before ending the month with six defeats in seven to end with an overall record of 21-36.
The form picked up in June however as they earned their first winning record for a calendar month of the season, picking up 15 wins. They beat the San Diego Padres in three straight games and then managed to end the month with a run of six consecutive victories in their final seven games.
After losing their first four games in July, they earned a win over the Chicago Cubs before losing their next three in a row. They then claimed four wins in their next five before the All-Star break, before winning four of their next six after returning. Since then however they have lost seven of their next 12 games, and enter this game with an overall record of 50-64.

MLB Picks: Back the Yankees to win
When looking at the two teams on paper, it’s evident that the Yankees should be the team to come out on top once again.
No team has scored more runs than the Yankees this season in the entire MLB (583), while their on-base percentage of .334 is also the best in the league, and their slugging percentage of .438 is ranked third best of every team. When it comes to pitching they’re the fourth-best ranked team for Earned Run average with 3.7 and ranked second for BAA with 2.3.
While the double header between the two on Wednesday saw both teams claim one win each, the Yankees will be locked in to ensure they don’t lose two in a row once again, backing them for the victory makes complete sense and seems the best value bet too.
