Ayr Tips: Woobay ready to strike in Scotland

Ayr Tips: Woobay ready to strike in Scotland

It’s a busy day of racing across the UK and Ireland on Monday with no less than six meetings taking place and our focus here has fallen north of the border on Ayr’s seven-race card, which runs from 14:15 until 17:15.

With a total of 45 runners across the card in Scotland, we have perused the markets to pick out three selections that look to have a good chance of coming away with a victory.

Ayr Betting Tips

  • 14:45 – Woobay @ 11/4
  • 15:45 – Aighear @ 8/1
  • 16:45 – Biplane @ 4/1

Date: Monday 5th June
Time: First race at 14:15
Location: Ayr, Ayrshire

14:45 – Woobay @ 11/4

A field of five are set to contest the second race at Ayr – the Join Racing TV Now Fillies’ Handicap over 7f 50yds at 14:45 – and the progressive WOOBAY boasts solid claims for trainer Phillip Makin.

Having recorded back-to-back third-place finishes at Newcastle and Redcar, the four-year-old was a clear second at Ayr on May 23rd on her previous appearance over 6f on good-to-firm ground, conditions which are forecast again.

Woobay makes her handicap debut now and there is definitely scope for her to go one better than that runners-up effort last time out.

15:45 – Aighear @ 8/1

A total of six runners are scheduled to battle it out for the spoils in the 15:45 – the Take That Tribute At Western House Handicap over 1m 7f – and preference here is for AIGHEAR.

Jim Goldie’s charge picked up a C&D victory last September and was sixth of eight in a handicap at Musselburgh last month, her first run since finishing fifth at Ayr in October last year.

That recent performance should have Aighear much fitter for this outing in Scotland and it would be no surprise to see her in the mix.

Horse Racing Odds

16:45 – Biplane @ 4/1

The penultimate race is the Book Family Racedays In July Handicap at 16:45 and the nod here goes to BIPLANE, who has been showing impressive form of late and is respected.

John Wainwright’s charge picked up a win at Ayr in July last year, edging out Far From A Ruby by a nose, before then following that up with a victory at Southwell the next month.

The five-year-old had recorded four third-place finishes in 2023 before managing to get across the finishing line first at Newcastle last time out in a six-runner handicap.

She is 4lb higher up now back on turf but Biplane looks to have a great chance of making it two wins on the spin.
