The 2023 Call of Duty regular season began on December 2, 2022, and ended on May 28, 2023. Twelve CDL teams started the season. Following the five qualifiers and majors, that number has been reduced to eight. Those top eight Call of Duty teams converge on the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV between June 15-18 to compete for the 2023 Call of Duty League Championship. The prize pool for the event totals $2,380,000. The event winner takes home $1 million, while the runner-up pockets $660,000. In addition, the third-place squad earns $320,000, while the fourth-place club gets $160,000.
In 2022, the Los Angeles Thieves, who beat the Atlanta FaZe in the Grand Final 5-2, took home the top prize. Both teams will be back for the 2023 Call of Duty League Championship.
The other six teams who qualified for this year’s CDL Championship event are: OpTic Texas, New York Subliners, Toronto Ultra, Minnesota ROKKR, Boston Breach, and Seattle Surge.

Atlanta FaZe
The Atlanta FaZe finished in the top spot in points during the 2023 Call of Duty regular season, and it was not particularly close. Atlanta picked up 385 points, which was 65 points more than regular season runner-up, OpTic Texas. Atlanta did not perform all that strongly in the season qualifiers, but they picked things up in the majors, where they had three third-place finishes, one runner-up placement, and one victory. The team won the second major of the year and finished in the runner-up spot in 2023’s final major.
FaZe were the most consistent team during the regular season, and they start the CDL Championship against the No. 8 seeded Seattle Surge.
OpTic Texas
OpTic Texas enters the CDL League Championship as the No. 2 seeded team, thanks to their 320 regular season points. OpTic Texas had an up-and-down regular season. They did not win any of the five majors. Their best finish in those events was runner-up in the third and fourth major of the year. The team also picked up zero regular season points in the first and fifth majors of the year. The good news for the team is that despite not getting out of the first round of the final major is that they are matched up against the No. 7 seeded Boston Breech to open the event. Boston failed to pick up points in three of the five regular season majors.

Toronto Ultra
Toronto Ultra are looking to finish higher in 2023 than they did in 2022 in the CDL Championship. In 2022, Toronto finished the regular season in seventh place and wrapped up the Championship round with a 5th-6th finish. In 2023, the team enters the Championship event as the No. 4 seed after finishing the regular season with 305 points. The team’s best finish came in the year’s third major, where they won. They finished the regular season with a fourth-place finish in the fifth and final major.
Toronto starts the 2023 CDL Championship event against the No. 5 seeded Los Angeles Thieves, who finished the regular season with 285 points.
