Online slots around the world

To date, the online slots section has been, without a doubt, the most popular among online casino players. But could the industry be changing so much that the top games are not what you expect them to be?

We look at the most popular games in different regions and how the market might be shifting.

Online Slots Around the World

SoftSwiss recently shared some valuable insights spanning across different regional markets around the world. The analysis is based on the Game Aggregator data collected from the second half of 2022 to the first half of 2023.

✅ Europe

Online slots remain popular in Europe, but the interest has declined slightly. Their market share is still the highest, exceeding 80% among all other game categories. While slots have declined, card games have moved up slightly, too.

In the second quarter of 2023, there was an increase in the total bets category for craps games, making it the 5th most popular card game. Regarding slot games, Gates of Olympus, Big Bamboo, and Midas Golden Touch were dubbed the most popular titles.

The top providers throughout this period were Amusnet (EGT), Amatic, BGaming, Evolution Gaming, Push Gaming, Pragmatic Play, and Relax Gaming.

✅ Asia

In the Asian gaming community, slots seem to remain a prominent position holder, exceeding 80% market share compared to the other game categories. Gates of Olympus was also dubbed the most popular game in Asia, much like in Europe. Other popular games included Bonanza Billion. However, this game saw fluctuations in its rankings. And then Asia saw an almost double increase in the Total Bets Sums of Aviator.

According to the head of SoftSwiss, Tatyana Kaminskaya, the popularity of Aviator is due to the simplicity of its interface accompanied by the fast payouts. Another thing that sets it apart is its unique gameplay mechanics, which differ from other crash games. A big plus is that the game creates a feeling of control where players take charge of gameplay.

The top software providers in the region include Pragmatic Play, Evolution Gaming, and BGaming. Play’n GO and Amatic dropped in the ranks and got replaced by 1spin4win and Amusnet (EGT).

✅ Latin America

For the LatAm community, the popular game categories remain consistent, and slots remain the dominating category.

Other popular games following hot on its heels include Roleta Brasileiri, Aviator, Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and Crazy Time. It’s a healthy mix of online slots, card games, crash games, and live dealer variants.

Aviator also saw an increase in the total bet sum in Latin America. Their stats show it was 170m euros more than the previous quarter. Which shot software provider up the ranks to fourth place in Q2 2023. Quite the jump from its cosy 10th place in the third quarter of 2022. Other top providers here include Pragmatic Play, Evolution Gaming, BGaming, and Playtech.
