AFC East betting preview, futures picks & best odds – NFL 2023

The NFL season is two months away and that means it’s time for NFL bettors to start combing over some futures. Most of the big free agents have been signed and the rosters are largely set. This article will cover our favorite team prop bets for the AFC East, a division that projects to be among the most competitive in the NFL.

Buffalo Bills

$2.30 at Sportingbet

The Buffalo Bills are coming off of a 13-3 season and have won the division in each of the past three years. Having largely retained every key player, they are a great bet to win the division again.

As long as the Bills have a healthy Josh Allen under center, they will be a Super Bowl contender. While this division got stronger, the Bills are 15-3 against divisional foes in the past three seasons and they haven’t really showed any signs of slowing down. This team should be way shorter favorites, so take the discount at $2.30 and watch them win their fourth-straight divisional title.

New York Jets

$3.50 at Sportingbet

The New York Jets are in line for a very interesting season. After a disappointing 7-10 finish last year, they traded for Super Bowl winner and three-time MVP Aaron Rodgers. He will immediately be a quarterback upgrade for this team, and considering the talent around him, the Jets could become elite quickly.

That being said, there is quite a risk with this team and we wouldn’t recommend taking them to win the division at their odds of $3.50. Rodgers was pretty average last year, and while he could return to MVP form, we won’t bet on it. However, the Jets are $1.82 to win over 9.5 games, and considering they had seven with the worst quarterback in the league last year, that is a strong value play.

Miami Dolphins

$3.75 at Sportingbet

While they finished 9-8 last year and showed signs of promise, the Miami Dolphins simply do not have the defensive talent to compete with the Bills for the division. The offense should be elite, as they were last year when QB Tua Tagovailoa was healthy, but the defense has holes in all levels.

The Dolphins, like the Jets, have a win total line of 9.5, but we won’t be touching it. This team has a wide range of outcomes due to Tua’s injury history, and although there is a lot of reason for optimism, those risks make it too rich for our blood. Stay away from Miami, no matter how fun their offense looks on paper.

New England Patriots

$7.50 at Sportingbet

The New England Patriots dominated this division for nearly 20 years with Tom Brady at the helm, but now that he’s gone, things are looking bleak. The Pats finished last year with an 8-9 record but didn’t do much to improve their team this offseason and their rivals will look to take advantage of that.

While Bill Belichick is the most successful coach in NFL history, there have been some concerning decisions made in recent seasons. All of this points to under 7.5 wins at $1.82 with the top NFL betting sites. While this may feel wrong due to the Patriots’ historic dominance, this roster simply isn’t set up to compete for this division. Take the under and watch young QB Mac Jones falter with a lackluster group of skill-position players.
